I was just wondering, is there alot of open nursing jobs in your area?? And where is "your area" lol. I am right outside of Albany NY. We have jobs for nursing everywhere. 3 Major Hospitals and tons of LTC. Is it the same everywhere? Nursing jobs on a continious rotation? Im trying to get my hubby to consider moving down south from NY. Like NC or VA. I was just curious how the rest of the US is doing with Nursing!

That is interesting - do they hire new grads? It seems that is thebiggest complaint on this board. I am in Wyoming - my local hospital is hiring but that is basically b/c they cant retain staff due to crappy working conditions. I am currently working LTC and we are fully staffed w/nurses but are desperate for CNA's.

Im confused by your post. But the job market across the US for the most part is not very good at this point and just because job are posted doesn't mean they are actually being filled

True - some jobpostings are phony. However, I think the OP was simply asking the opinion of other nurses about the job market is in their locale - be it good or bad.

and i answered .....it is not good :)

They are still hiring new grads in the upstate (Rochester) NY area. There are no sign on bonuses and you may not get your first pick of type or job or shift.

I'm a couple of hours north of Albany and it's dry here /s experience. LTC is always hiring,

I was simply asking in general what is your area like. I know here, in Schenectady, there are always jobs available. Weither its LTC,Acute care or agency there are plenty. What you might not get is the exact shift or unit you are looking for. But there are jobs in nursing. That was really all. :)

I am a nurse here in the Phil. I understand that job market for nurses across US, is not very good at this time. Has anybody knows the job opportunity in New Zealand or Australia?

Small town Southern NM. Despite having a nursing school, lots of travelers filling slots for lack of local staff.

I live and work in VA. VA hiring new grads at various of hospitals.

I live in kentucky and am currently in nursing school. There are several hospitals around here but only a total of 10 open full-time job postings within 5 local hospitals. One of the local hospitals just laid off a bunch of people (some nurses) and made some people (nurses included) go from full-time to part-time and loose all benefits. This hospital is one of the major employers of new grads in my area. I am seriously reconsidering my career choice as a nurse. I am going into my second year, and if things do not start looking up, I don't know what I am going to do.

If you are in an area where you have a job as a nurse, then STAY THERE!! The job market is so unpredictable that moving is not the best idea right now in my opinion.
