last night in the ER, it was crazier than normal. The stress of patients coming in. So many stressors from the Dow Drop. Chest pains, hyperventilating, overdoses, assaults, domestic and physical abuse. Even the police that brought people in said that they were being swamped.

I havent even looked at how the Dow affected my 401k and other accounts. but at least I am comfortably in my life no matter. But even my coworkers were additionally stressed and worried about themselves and their families.

Hmmmm. Here it was an extremely quiet noc.

I am surprised I wasn't one of them!

I was planning on retirement in about 10 years. That's won't be happening is all I am saying. I can't even look at my accounts any more. It won't change anything, and it is all too depressing.

Well Im broke now and I'll be broke when I retire...so whether it goes up or down...Im still broke!

Yeah, same here.

I don't think the "Dow" has much to do with ER visits.

Me too . . . .and we have a small business.

Low stock prices are good if you are contributing into a retirement fund and purchasing stocks with each paycheck. The lower the price of the stocks, the more shares your money is able to buy. When stock prices are high, your money buys fewer shares. So a volatile market is a good thing when you are in for the long haul.

Remember, buy low, sell high, and don't check the value of your retirement fund more than once a quarter. Obsessing over the value of your retirement fund may lead to irrational actions, such as buying high and selling low.

Actually increase your 401 k contribution is better. Then when the market goes back up, you will make much more in the end.
