I have never before voted for a Republican president...but I will be voting for Mccain in November. As one of the CRNA's put it regarding Obama.."I just can't vote for someone who won't wear his country's flag". I find something very offputting about Obama. I don't quite trust him and say what you will about Hillary, at least her failings and issues were pretty much out there.

At first, I was going to vote for Obama, but like I said before, I just don't trust him. He doesn't have a heck of a lot of experience and he waffles on the issues when it suits him.

Not a huge McCain fan either but I pretty much hate all politicians, Just a matter of degree!

He had a flag pin on here:

And here:

Of course, I don't think I need to comment on how absurd this election season is when we measure the loyalty of candidates in flag pins. I don't think I've worn a flag pin since I was a boy scout, but that doesn't make my unpatriotic.

Edit: But for a fun game, if you run a google image search on "McCain" you don't find a single image of him with a flag pin on anywhere in the first couple of pages.

Ok...when did wearing a flag lapel pin become a prerequisite for President of the United States? This has to be the most inane, senseless argument the Repubicans have created to try to sway the unwashed masses. If someone genuinely won't vote for a candidate because they won't wear a pin...I think that person shouldn't be allowed to vote. They lack all critical thinking skills that every sensible human being should have. Talk about a manufactured non-issue. In that case I'm making a new one up...white hair is a sign of comradery with terrorists, therefore I cannot vote for McCain. Makes just as much sense! :banghead:

the reality is that the middle class (which includes most nurses) has done better on average under democratic administrations and policies.

[color=#333333]“update[color=#333333]: ok, now that the column’s up i can say a bit more. the point of these charts is not to say that clinton deserves credit for all good things and bush deserves blame for everything bad. the point is, instead, to show how crazy it is when republicans claim that a return to clinton-era levels of taxes will destroy the economy. the fact is that the economy did a lot better in an era when we had a 39.6% tax rate on dividends and a 28% rate on capital gains than it has in an era with both rates down to 15%.”

[color=#333333]at http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/20/reaganomics/

[color=#333333]if anything the middle class lost ground when inflation was taken into account for the reagan years. under the watch of bush 2 the middle class has lost even more ground.

[color=#333333]update[color=#333333]: dean baker had the same reaction. he uses gdp growth rates and lumps nixon-ford together, so that his list of presidents who would envy the bush economic record is as follows: 1. bush i. 2. nobody.”

I see all of this conversation about the possibility of Obama winning & what will happen. I am SO glad to see that there is still the freedom there to have this conversation. Where I now live, the most recent presidential election did have 3 candidates--2 were "dummy" candidates chosen by the president so the people could have a "democratic" election. No one dare express an honest opinion for fear of deadly reprisal. As tough as things are in America, the country is still the best & so is its system. When I return in July it will be my first trip back in a year. In spite of all that the news has about the election & everything else that is going on, I can hardly wait because--America is FREE. We have so much to be thankful for!

as mentioned above, he has been seen wearing it. but in all seriousness, he explained in context why he doesn't wear it all the time, an I can accept that. I SURE DON'T WEAR ONE. If we stop wearing our pink ribbons, are we "pro-cancer" now? I just got an email from an anti-Obama friend regarding the national anthem, etc. I just sent him this.

the irony is that I am not even an Obama/Democrat supporter. I am completely untied to the politic process in this country. I will be writing my guy on the ballot.

Health care plans? Ha. Business as usual. I don't care what form you put it into, if we let the government backed mega corporations keep going as they are by voting the same old ideas and people, then we should expect the same results, or suffer from Einstein's theory of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Really...the president is only one branch....don't pass the law he wants....well, VETO it down...and then it usually DOESN'T pass......

Washington is So out of touch with the real people of the world, we'd be just as well to set up our own kangaroo court.....Oh, wait, we did...it's called Guantamano...

Seriously, I'll vote based on issues when I have TIME to research them....but in my 27 short years...things have ALWAYS seemed more robust, and more positivity abounds when there is a DEMOCRAT in the white house.....and seriously, maybe we do need another perspective...If you want another old white guy in there, just write in Cheney!

Things always get worse before they get better. It's hard to say how his plan will effect nurses because it isn't in affect. No matter how you slice it...taxes will rise for the middle class....but as for the wealthy, they will find a way to beat the system....somehow.

In my opinion, since Bush started this mess, the money he will earn after his term is completely up, he needs to pay for everything. I mean everything....The U.S. suffering is for something that makes no sense at all has made me reach my breaking point. This is ridiculous....Like previously stated, no matter who gets elected, we are all still in hot water.

Re nurses in Canada . I hear a lot about how awful nursing/healthcare is in other countries , so I went to the international form and asked nurses in the Uk, Australia , and Canada.what they thought. Nice to get it first hand.

I hope we will see real change in health care.

What we are doing now isn't working out so well for all our citizens.

That said I agree that we are lucky to live in a country where we can complain about the government any time we want. And we don't have to wear flag pins to prove we love our country!

The flag pin is a complete distraction from what really faces this country.
