Getting the schedule wrong......

I got a call this morning that jarred me out of bed asking where I was.........apparently somewhere between my manager and the schedulers I was put down for the wrong shift!!!!

This is the second time in a week this has happened.........I am kinda frustrated because I am one of those people that prides myself on never being late and always showing to work no matter how crappy I feel. What the heck else can I do besides write down the shifts I want to work and hand them to her? I mean, I sat down and went over this holiday schedule IN PERSON back in November, nobody said anything about me needing to change shift due to staffing or anything. They just wrote me in for the wrong time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does your manager post a schedule, just make a copy to be sure that you have the correct schedule. If you are agency or resource or PRN, etc.. and you get to pick your schedule then you are not obligated to work if you did not pick that shift.

I keep an "organizer"....NO $$$ for a palm pilot have I.......but a plain ole $13. personal organizer. And when I schedule myself, I actually CHECK MY PERSONAL CALENDAR against the POSTED schedule to ENSURE THERE ARE NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS OR MISTAKES on either my **or** their part. This happened to me ONCE and I , too, was very upset because I am ANAL when it comes to attendance and punctuality. ( I believe the schedule was changed when posted, but can't prove it). Anyhow this HAS NOT HAPPENED since I have done the "organizer" routine. AND I KEEP TWO different PRN jobs, as well as my education and family life IN LINE with this little thing. IT's what works for ME anyhow. Take care!

Yes! Make a Xerox copy of your schedual. This does happen a lot! Some people are really sneaky!

I don't know how many times I've xeroxed the schedule and had it in my hot little hand only to find a different one there the next week showing different days to work.

Our manager did have her good points. Every one of us got a photocopy of the schedule in our cubbyholes. Those that wanted she would e-mail the schedule in Excel. The schedule was pinned to the bulletin board behind plastic. All changes made had to be done by her. If you needed a change it had to be made in writing.

Xerox the schedule when it comes out, keep your own copy at home, get a phone answering machine and, leave the ringer off.

Well, as it turned out the schedule was right....but the girl doing the daily staffing report just wrote me in for the wrong time!!! Guess the day after Xmas she wasn't in the mood to double check the schedule before calling people at home.....I think I will turn the ringer off in the future.

Please tell me you didn't have to get up, get dressed and go into work at the wrong time to find that out.
