i want to know how many poeple out there, believe in the power of prayer, and how many believe it works? any stories? any proof? thoughts etc?

i definitely believe in the power of prayer. but.. you don't always get the answer you were expecting or hoping for.

i believe sometimes we never get the answers of our prayer if we ask in a different motive.if you ask according to his will he will surely give you.

god is not too fast or to slow to answer your prayer he will give you at his own good time,and god's time is always the best time.:)

I definately believe in prayer and yes it works. I have had many prayers answered maybe not exactly the way I was thinking but the way it works out is so much better than my mind could realize.I have learned that if I just turn it over to God, have faith and ask for his will to be done and not mine things just seem to work out!!!

I am a non-believer, so this might sound a tad strange. But it really did happen.(like I said in an earlier post "I've seen too many things not to wonder"-but then again I heard the phrase (I believe in Inherent the Wind)

A life time of doubt does not mean I have come to any conclusions.)

On with MY story-- My husband and I had made some god awful mistakes due to our 3 1/2 month old son death (SIDS). So we had moved to Chicago with no jobs-little money and three kids to feed. We returned home after a year with no change. When we got home the situation was not any better. So through a series of attempts to straighten things out (Believe me that is a whole other story) we finally decided to go to school. Well that was a great plan, but we did not even own a car, and the LPN program my husband attended was about 10 miles from our house.

In the process of getting things turned around we had to put all three of our children in a foster home because I could not feed them (What a horrible time all of that was).

After my husband had been accepted to the LPN program I went back to work as a PCA, and walked to and from work every day. This was going from bad to worse, I finally asked "GOD" or whatever you guys call "HIM" to help me out.

The lovely family that took care of my children when I could not, had a friend who had placed a battery in backwards on an old Turquois Datsun B-210, and wanted to know if we could use it! They did not know we were in desperate need of a vehicle. After a few friends and my husband worked on "PEARL" (as she became known to us) and had her running. For the next year this delightfully ugly car got us to every PTA meeting, my husband to all of his classes and clinicals without having an inspection sticker or valid License plates, and on top of that I did not have a drivers license. Never got stopped once in all that time. It really was like "GOD" was taking care of us.

My husband graduated from his LPN program (Valedictorian of course :) )

and that silly old car was still going. So a close friend of mine needed a vehicle when we were able to buy one and keep it legal, so we gave her "PEARL". Yep, it got her through school also.

There have been times I have gotten real discouraged, but I try to remember this incident and I still thank you to the powers that be.

I do believe in the power of prayer. There have been too many times in my life that a miracle has happened.

God doesn't matter where you are, he'll always listen. No, you may not get the answer you want, but he will answer. His will is not always our will.

For example, we all pray a loved will be healed. Well, God may answer your prayer with an Eternal Healing. In our life, we pray for so many material things, a car, money...whatever.... God may answer you with life, health and love which is truly happiness.

Never under estimate the power of prayer. If you feel the need to pray for someone, do it!

yes i believe in the power of prayer and yes i do pray, though not as much as i should. yes i do believe it "works" if it's god's will and i have witnessed god's hand in many instances.

the most personal instance of god's work in our lives involved the loss of our first grandchild, a granddaughter, aged 3 yrs old, to meningitis several years ago. no death is as totally devastating as that of a child and she was our whole world. i've been a believer most of my life but my husband and his family have not been. her death took a major toll on us; he wanted to commit suicide--he wanted me to join him. we are motorcyclists and were eating breakfast at a diner where a chapter of the christian motorcyclists assn. were. we talked with a couple there involved in the chapter(later we learned that they hadn't planned on even being there but "something" made them go). over the course of a couple of years, my husband accepted christ into his life and then so did our daughters and then my husband's father accepted christ(he'd been an atheist all his life). i often wonder if any of this would have occurred had she not died....i like to think each one would have eventually come to christ anyway but hope it wouldn't have been at the last minute...for it is written "every knee shall bow" when he returns.

i've enjoyed reading all the stories of how wonderfully the lord has worked in so many lives--what more "proof" does one need?:)

When I decided that I wanted to become a nurse I told God that if he wanted me to be a nurse he'd have to make a way to pay for it. A few days later I received notification from an insurance company that I had taken a policy out with years before had cash value. That's how I paid the tuition. The way things worked out, my nursing education was paid for without going into debt. My DH also had alot to do with it. He worked 2 jobs so I could go to school fulltime.

If you haven't read it yet, you need to read "The Purpose Driven Life". I have found in my 40 years as a person, that our Lord and Savior is always there for us and always takes care of us. There are times when I pray for something that I don't end up getting but I always know that there must be a reason why God does not want me to have it. He is not like a Genie where you can make wishes and they come true. You have to really have a relationship with Him and truly believe in your heart that He is the Savior. My mother went into ARDS in 1990 and was life flighted to Herman Hospital in Houston, TX. To this day, they do not know what she came down with to cause her to almost die. She had pneumonia and was due to be released the next day from a Lake Jackson hospital but she didn't make it home. She was in intensive care for almost 4 months. She was in a deep coma for about 3 months. Every single hour we would have a doctor come and tell us that she didn't have much longer to live and that we needed to go and say our goodbyes to her. This went on for weeks and weeks. Needless to say, there were so many people praying for my mother and her condition during this horrible ordeal. At the time that my mother got sick, my father was still working as a Nuclear Engineer and he and mom were avid members of a great church in Texas. During the 4 months that I stayed with my dad to help him, the family and my mother, I prayed constantly. I had just has a baby and was still breast feeding, I had to be responsible for the house, the bills, the visitors, the phone calls etc etc etc. At no time did I have time to cry or scream like I really wanted to. My mother is a devout Christian and I couldn't believe that God would want to take her away from us at the age of 42! As the days went by miracle after miracle began occurring for no reason. Her heart began to beat more regurarly, her kidneys began working again, her respiratons were better and they were weaning her off the ventilator. I think the thing that touched me the most during this with my mother was when we first went to the hospital she was still talking. She said that she would die for the Lord and she would die if it meant one more person would be saved during our adversity. Well my ex husband ended up getting saved during all of this and so many more people's lives were touched because of what my mom went through. Today my mom is living well, fairly healthy and living a life of good. We are closer today than we have ever been. We lost my father due to a bike accident 2 years ago but he too was a miracle because he got out of the Nuclear Engineering business and became a Minister! Prayer does work.......just remember to Thank Him for his answers! :)

I believe in prayer and I know that prayer does change things. You will always receive an answer but it may not be the answer you want. The answer comes on time but sometimes that means waiting. And you have to be careful what you pray for. Nov 1988 and Nov 1989 I had a car accident. I was graduating in Dec 1990. When Nov. came, I asked God to let me graduate on time, to hold back whatever accident was in store for me. November came and went. My pinning ceremony was Dec 9,1990. I had a car accident Dec 18, 1990. I prayed and thanked God for letting me graduate on time. Then I prayed the prayer I should have prayed the first time and asked for no more accidents.

I Praise the Lord for what he had done to your mother.

THE god we serve is a MIRACLE WORKING GOD.He is also the God of the impossibles.What he had done to your mother is a great testimony to the non believers.God had a purpose for her life,that is why He never took her life away.Probably it was for the sake of your Ex- husband and others who came to know the Lord during that period was the very reason God spared her life again.God works together for the good of those who love Him.He alone knows the plan for our future,plans to bring us prosperity and not disaster.I truly believe in the power of prayer for when Man says nothing can be done or it is impossible that's when the GOD of the Impossibles will take over.

I truely believe in the power of faith, no matter what kind. Whether you believe in one supreme being or many...it is the power to believe in something that gives you a purpose to continue on, despite what happens. It also is a way to accept yourself as less than perfect, and look towards something more for answers.

I have seen a significant difference in clients that have faith, and those that do not. The ones that don't tend to be slower to mend, or quicker to give up, and tend to be much more introverted and private...not giving information about their emotional or spiritual side for nurses to help with this valuable side of human existance!

I do pray, but more along the lines of thanking GOD for the lessons I learn, for the safety of my family, and the love I feel is given to me and through me :).

Yes I believe in the power of prayer.

Since I started nursing school, many obstacles have been placed in my way. With every problem I had, I prayed.....the obstacles were removed or did not seem so very problematic.

I believe in a higher power. This power is guiding me now. I am thankful.
