When my employer was being besieged by an attempt to unionize, I was willing to take a pay cut to keep my job and bring down the overall wage scale before the union moved in, if they won. However, the union lost the vote so I never had to go that route. A former supervisor told me that her employer cut her pay three times since they took over the home care case she was working on. She only stayed because she liked the client and family so much. Three pay cuts. Ouch.
Well Im not a die hard, but i do like my job most days. I have taken a pay cut from 50/hr down to 48/hr. It was supposed to be a temporary thing however after 1.5yrs its permanent now. I will probably never take a pay cut again.
If you chose to live like a poor man, you dont need to work as much :-)
Only if it meant more staffing to help us other wise NO!!!! Our facility is spending 97 million to build a new out patient surgery/physician's building, a parking garage that has to be shared with the university right down the street and a new 5 story cardiac center.
By the way I just got a letter saying " I am pleased to inform you of a new pay raise, $.25 per hour," what an insult. It cost more in postage and man power to type, sign seal and mail it for pete's sake!!.
