Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing Fall 2019

Published

Hello I was wondering if anyone else applied for fall 2019?

UPDATE: I called cuz I wanted to know about my gpa recalculation and decided to ask other questions since I as what the heck might as well they told me the number of applicants was a “little over 200 and some” and that we should receive a response the first week of March and that the “committee is currently reviewing applications”

They are gonna accept between 70-80 students

I'm not sure how they base their gpa. I still have to schedule an appointment with an advisor to review my transcripts. So do they base your gpa on your overall academic gpa or is it just your pre req gpa?

WHOA 200 APPLICANTS? Well that just got my nerves up. I hope they accept 80 students. I wonder if the other students aren't aware that this website exists. Or if there is another post that everyone else is responding to. I'm sure once it gets closer to the time for interviews we will have more people replying to our post.

That’s exactly what I said where is everyone else?!! Lol I couldn’t find any and I made 4 of them In different categories in hopes someone would respond..past semesters seem to have more replies to posts so idk maybe too busy with pre requisites and yes maybe towards the date I mean the post has 938 views lol so maybe they are just looking at our worry or we are too analytical that we found this website...and yes when I got advised they gave me a sheet where they calculated my overall based on the pre requisite courses they require and the science gpa based on micro chem a&p 1 and 2, I’m so nervous now knowing that it’s these many applicants...I’m assuming they interview like 100 or so?

I believe I read in another post they accepted 80 in the fall and this past spring they accepted 72

Oh okay well great! I’m glad they base it on our pre req GPA and not just our overall GPA. So they don’t count patho in the science GPA? Hmm okay.

938 views and only three people have responded ? That’s hilarious. Well I’m glad they have us as resource to know that they aren’t alone and that we are all freaking out. lol

lol right like who ever is reading this out there and is applying please respond...I was hoping many could respond to see where we stand and well maybe know any other info possible, and no which is weird right? That the science gpa doesn’t take patho into account patho... so science is based on 4 courses micro, a&p 1 and 2 and chemistry, patho is calculated in your over all gpa, She had said competitive hesi scores were 75 so to score above that in all areas and they look a lot at the a&p...can’t lie I got so nervous when I heard it’s over 200 app ?...I’m assuming they take forever since I can’t even imagine going over more that 200 apps reading personal statements making notes looking at academic history experience hesi scores etc.. and they go on detail since they told me they make notes in case you don’t get in to let you know what it is the committee didn’t like or why you didn’t get in

Hope these weeks go by fast...i see the students at umc and I’m like :( I want to be them lol

I'm actually feeling down and little sad after I heard that there are more than 200+ applicants :(.

I don't know how I am gonna tell my family if I dont get accepted to the school since I gave up alot of things for this challenge.

Hope all of us can get a chance to get interviews, at least. Please~~~

I will pray for you ?

Same here hearing over 200 also worries me as I’ve already tried applying to another program and got rejected, I kinda knew it was this many and I knew I had to try my best it’s been over a yr since I have waited to start a nursing program, I too don’t know what I’m gonna do if I don’t get at least an interview that’s why I haven’t told my family since sometimes one can be judged as not being capable of being accepted or “smart enough”...I graduated with honors top 10% of my college class at utep from my first bachelors and getting rejected to a nursing school has made me very sad and disappointed on my self....watching ppl I was gonna be with at the hospital is a downer too but I refuse to give up I know this is the career I want. It was my first degree choice but due to family issues I had to choose my first bachelors, I Pray at least to get an interview and then take it one step at a time...I’ll be praying for you girls too, we are now in Gods hands and all we can do is wait , but don’t give up whatever happens I try to think of other backup plans too, no matter what happens life always goes on, and I pray that we all get a chance!! You are very capable and your scores show it, don’t let anyone discourage you only you know how hard nursing school is for others it’s easy to judge, the advisors told me 80% of this past class were reapplicants in case that helps.

Trust me I’m on the same boat as you guys. My mother has been supportive about me going to nursing school, but my dad on the other hand thinks it’s time select another career, but it’s not that simple. This is the career that I’m passionate about. I can’t just give up. That’s why I haven’t told my family yet because I know that if I don’t get accepted they will associate it with me not being smart enough to get in, but it’s not the case at all. It’s just so competitive. I have high hopes for the three of us.
