Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2022
How did your final interview go? I hope you got some great news and job offers. Has anyone heard back from Ben Taub and LBJ yet?

I would email them just to notify them that there were no times available to schedule for an interview and ask if they have any other dates available.

@K897 Yes Methodist TMC sent out emails on Wednesday 6/29 for the departments that were interested and scheduled interviews with those departments on Thursday 6/30. One of my classmates hear back yesterday about scheduling for a second interview this week.

Has anyone applied or heard back from Harris Health yet?

Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2022
@prenursing18 Yes I know Harris Health is offering an RN Fellowship program for nurses who have 1 year or less of experience. Not sure about other hospitals. @FutureRNDaniB Once you've been pre-matched and interviewed you should hear back within 24-48 hours. At least that's what Memorial City said during their information session.

You are welcome Hannananana! Yes we have five more days until we find out. I think out of all three of us you had the better GPA and the better HESI score so if anyone is going to be automatically accepted of us three it will more than likely be you. lol I wonder if when they send out the email if they will also send out the reason why we weren't accepted and what things we can improve on to be a more competitive applicant. I've already warned my coworkers that I may be an emotional wreck on Friday. I work night shift at an ER so I will be receiving the email while on my way to work. So my coworkers have already planned to get a bunch of food for me to either celebrate or eat my feelings and cry depending on what the email states. lol

Yes she said approximately 80 students. So if they had 250 applicants they will only be accepting 32% of them. I’m remaining positive that we will fall within that 32%. One more week and we find out.

So I called to get some information about when we should expect an email. They said by the end of next week (so next Friday) and that they will be accepting about 80 applicants.

I'm hopeful that the changes they made will be beneficial to us all. Also I wonder if they increased the number of students that they are going to accept and if so by how much more.

The interview process was one of the many reasons why I applied. I love the fact that you are not just viewed by your application you are also given an opportunity to meet with them in person and so they have a face along with the application. I'll be calling tomorrow just to get some information and see what they say. I'm sure they will still send out emails on Friday, but I just want to know if we should expect something this Friday or next.

Funny thing is I was just thinking about this on my way to work. All I was thinking to myself was I don't have to be a nervous wreck until next week, next week will be the last Friday in March and that's when you'll find out. lol Well if they have final decisions by the end of this week maybe we won't find out until next week.

Yes I guess it depends what school you take the exam for. I took it while I was attending TWU and it was not an easy exam. I took the hesi and thought it was a breeze compared to the TEAS. It shouldn't count against you. Also its not like you failed the class you obtained a C. A C is still a passing grade. I'm sure they will see that the patho class you originally took was nursing level patho. I didn't know that there was two different patho options. I took Patho a TWU hopefully it meets the requirements.

Sitting down - New nurse looking for advice
Have you considered working out patient surgery in Pre-Op or Post-Op for a small surgical center. Being a new grad I'm sure they will hire you and if you work for a small facility it gives you more time to sit down. I worked at a surgery center in both settings (depending where they needed me) and we had plenty of down time while we waited for patients to either be brought back to pre-op or waited for them to come out of surgery.

Texas BSN programs that accept TEAS
If you did well on your TEAS I would highly recommend taking the HESI. The HESI is so much easier than the TEAS. Houston Baptist accepts the HESI as well as UT in the medical center of Houston. St Thomas University (also in Houston) accepts the HESI.
