Nursing Students School Programs

Hello I was wondering if anyone else applied for fall 2019?

Do you know why they do that? So I’m assuming they prob pushed the Hesi deadline as well. I keep thinking it’s bcuz they have lots of applicants lol and I think so too we won’t hear anything til March well at least only 2 more weeks til March...I’m hopeful as well I haven’t told my fam anything since I don’t want to be disappointed :(((

Specializes in psych.

Well, If I knew they pushed the hesi deadline till 7 th, I could have taken Hesi one more time. :(

I don't know what I am gonna do if I don't get accepted... I see all the hospital volunteer programs are for at least 6 months. Is there any hospital volunteer program for 3months in El Paso?

It’s a 60 day diff right to retake it?...I know what you mean and I know how much you worry I am the same way and tbh im very anxious of not being able to at least get an interview but I try not to worry you have great gpa both sience and overall, you know if it helps look at other threads I’ve seen some ppl there with a 3.2 get in, or 81 In the hesi, there are so many factors that they take into consideration, I think you did great on your hesi!!! When I went for advising she told me they also see if you’ve taken the test more than once and it affects you, also remember this ive heard your interview can make you or break you, I know it’s a long path ? but I think you will get an interview..I volunteer at UMC El Paso and it’s actually 100 hrs or a certain time frame so if you have time you can finish your hours in less time they give lots of opportunities for extra hrs. I’ve also heard ppl say they don’t learn anything but maybe they didn’t choose an area right? I chose to be in a unit and I get to prepare the rooms for labor and help the nurses and shadow them as well as the lvns, also I got taught how to do a ecg and how to place them which was exciting lol

Yes I definitely think that they extended the deadlines to squeeze in just a couple more applicants in. I'm not sure how many applicants applied for this term, but seeing how it's a fall term I'm certain that it's going to be not only a big pool of applicants, but also very competitive. Just like you I haven't mentioned to any of my family that I've applied. I don't want to get their hopes up until I have good news. Seeing how this is the only school I applied for my chances of having good news are very slim. lol I have to agree with TXephope123 it all depends on what floor you work at what type of exposure you'll have. Some departments will just use you to transport or to clean beds while others will actually teach you vital techniques such as starting IV's and all that good stuff.

Yes you know I’ve noticed the fall semester always get its deadline extended!! I was gonna apply a yr ago for the fall but didn’t since I thought I was gonna stay at utep and I remember the deadline got pushed as well, I wonder if they accept more applicants for the fall since they extend it, Augh I get so worried when you say it will be so competitive it makes me feel like I’m average since I think most of these ppl will have high gpa and 90s on hesi :( tbh I don’t know what I will do as well as all my hopes are on this school, I try not to think and I tire myself receiving an interview or attending as I don’t want to be disappointed :,( I also get discouraged a lot by some of my fam since they think going to school is a waste of time for me since I already have a bachelors. Well 2 weeks till March girls, God be willing we receive good news.

You are not average. You are far from it! You are just as competitive. You have a high GPA and your Hesi scores are just as good! Not just anyone can go take the hesi and score an 86. The fact that you have a bachelors gives you an additional advantage as well. Yes two more weeks and we will find out if we got an interview. I wish they would update the supplemental application just to notify us if our application has been reviewed.

Thank you so much and I guess all the waiting has me worried and we are all at the same level which means we all have a fair chance at an interview. First thing is first and I hope we can help each other out if we do get an interview and I’m sure your guys will your scores are def up there and I feel hesi and science gpa along with experience are key and all of you have it! Fingers crossed and prayers this weeks go by fast and we receive good news! I’ll keep you guys posted if I hear anything I know ppl who are applying too and might hear something!

I'm really rooting for the three of us to make it. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one constantly checking my email for some sort of update. lol It's also nice to just have someone to speak to about this experience seeing how I haven't mentioned it to anyone else. I have high hopes for us!

I think that’s why I feel more anxious and overall just so worried since I haven’t told anyone. I’ve only told my mom but she finds the whole process a lil confusing and so long. Me too I hope and wish the best for all of us! I promised not to check my email until Friday but I can’t lol and I wanted to call to see if I could be told at least how many ppl applied but I think it’s too early for them to know considering last week they hadn’t reviewed apps yet.

I'm sure by the end of this week they will probably have the total number of applicants. Applications were due about a week and a half ago so two weeks seems like it should be enough time for them to have an estimation of how many students applied.

Ok so I’ll give a call by the end of this week hopefully they tell me something. I’ve neen feeling very anxious and I know it’s due to this :(

Do any of you know how to recalculate your gpa? I looked up a caculator and I’m not sure if it’s right..so when I got advised they calculate your science gpa and the overall of the pre requisites they require right? I used the sheet they gave me where they told me my overall and my science gpa and according to that my science gpa didn’t change since I had already taken those classes which was a 3.73 and overall was a 3.53 I believe but I hadn’t taken 1 class which was worth 3 credit hrs and also I retook patho which I got a c at the time of calculating gpa and now I have replaced it with an A so my over all is a 3.7 aswell im confused
