Future Fall '08 El Centro/North Lake Students

Published

Well the official application filing period for Fall 08 is at the end of this month. Just curious to see who is applying and try to get a support group going because I know the waiting process can be tedious! :icon_roll

I more than likely will apply during the late filing period (hopefully), but I also am applying to the El Centro/Methodist Hospital Program, in which the official filing period doesn't end until the end of May. So I will apply to both, its the same program but one is free. ;)

Has everyone taken the Hesi? And if you plan to attend at El Centro, have you checked out the new building? Also, what campus is your first pick North Lake or El Centro?

I was just accepted too. I will be going to the Northlake campus August 08! Who else is there with me?

Hi, Heather,

I am at NLC....should be interesting!

Hi Maura,

Yes interesting  exciting, crazy, and stressful all at the same time. So orientation June 19th, I guess I will see you there. Is it 100 students that were accepted to Northlake to start in August? I think that's right but I'm not sure. Also do you know if we can purchase our own black scrub instead of having to buy a pair from school that cost almost 100 bucks?? I can't wait to meet everybody!

Talk to you soon- :yeah:

Hi,

I am not Maura, but I got accepted for Fall 08 at ECC. I believe it is 50 students per school, for a total of 100. And that just depends if there is any open slots for Fall 08.

I am just excited that I got in. This was my first application for nursing school.

I think it is only the scrub pants that are black. For some reason, I think the tops are blue and they have the El Centro patch and embroidering on it. So, the pants (and black shoes) can be gotten anywhere but the top & lab coat need to come from the vendor. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Correct - Pants and shoes, black. Top, blue with embroidered logo. Lab coat, white with logo. Overall look??? Yeah...not lookin' forward to the uniform. Too dark...At least it'll be "slimming". Maybe I should wear some eyeliner or guy-liner to achieve the whole nursing-goth look. Black lab coats would be okay for the whole sexy, contemporary look ala "nip/tuck".

They prolly want us to stick out like sore  :chair:

Congrats on getting in! and thanks for the info on the uniforms. Yeah the nursing goth look it is coming back lol! I'm not so sure about black and blue but it is what it is. You're so right about them wanting us to stick out...:nuke:

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

The blue of the top is a fairly light blue, so it's not that dark. The worst part (for me) is that the pants show a lot of lint. And, it's a pain that the uniform requires 3 different loads of laundry (again, for me -- whites for the coat/socks, colors for the top and darks for the pants. I suppose I shouldn't complain ... I was so overzealous that I took it to the dry cleaners all the time in first semester :D ). Most people rarely wear the lab coat except for check offs when they are required. Personally, I'm cold all the time, so I've only taken mine off in clinicals a time or two in 3 semesters now.

I bought my own black scrub pants and never had an instructor say anything about them being 'different.' However, there's always that chance ...

And, yes, the tops and the lab coat do need the logos embroidered on them directly, so I don't know of another way to do it.

Hey i know y'all have not posted on this thread in a while but just thot i would try my luck!! So for who got in did u buy the $800 book pac or just got the list of books frm the website and bought them elsewhere?? Is it cheaper and worth the hassle?? Do you know if you use all the books in the pac or not?? Am really worried about spending that much on books i hardly use and wont be able to re-use or sell!!!
