What was your most favorite part of nursing school? Like which classes did you like better?
The funnest part for me was my psych rotation. My instructor was awesome once you got to know her. For psych clinicals. we'd get report for all the patients (usually around 30) then we would go hang out in the day room with the patients and just talk to them. At the end of the night we'd give report back to the nurses. I felt a little guilty, like a spy or something, since the patients talked to us more because they perceived us as "normal people". They'd tell us things they wouldn't tell the doctors or nurses. We also got to see how they interacted with each other, who was flirting with who, who looked like they might fight. The funniest moment was when an attention-seeker woman blurted out enthusiastically to a student, in front of the group, "I want to hurt myself!". And the student, caught off guard, but remembering her therapeutic communication techniques replied "Tell me more about it." The patient just looked so confused because that was not the response she was used to. We were all trying hard not to laugh at the student, who immediately felt stupid.... and yes, of course we maintained our composure and talked to the patient more about her feelings and told her nurse what she said. Before anyone gets mad... what the patient said wasn't funny - just the awkward, canned response from our classmate.

Just curious...I thought, for some reason, that you had graduated already. When do you?
