what are the funnest most enjoyable areas of nursing to work or specialize in?
fun is what you make of it. you have to make your own fun, and usually everyone else joins in and laughs. i work in ltc and i laugh my butt off every night. the residents are hilarious. one guy said to me tonight, i used to be a doctor, ( i knew he was a barber for years), so i said oh, were you the doctor of hair cuts? and he said no, i was the doctor of ********, maybe it was a location joke ( you had to be there) but we both laughed histarically (sp?) i could go on and on about the funny things my residents say. anyway bottom line is, fun is what you make of it. work where you are comfortable and be happy.
Would it sound too jaded to say that the "funnest" area of my nursing job lately is the parking lot....as my car squeals away from the building toward my home?!?
Fun is a relative thing. Enjoy what you do, and you'll have fun!
I've heard the PACU is the happiest place in the hospital. From what I've seen, I think it certainly is. I'm waiting for a position to open there because I'd like to give it a try.
Corrections. Along with jeepgirl I never thought of this as fun, until I got here. I drive to work with a big smile on my face and leave singing with the radio. This job will definately prolong my life.
