Hi everyone! Just wanted to get a topic started on FSW's Fall 2019 cycle. The application deadline is May 15th. Here are my stats:
When this spring semester ends, I will have taken 8 out of the 9 pre-reqs. (3.62 GPA) I plan on taking A & P II in the summer. I am also taking the TEAS for the first time in May. I am a little stressed that I'm cutting it too close to the deadline and taking the TEAS without A & P II. My #1 choice is Collier ANEW, #2 is Lee ANEW.
Anybody else out there applying for Fall?

When doing a google search you can find the Lippincott web-store where it shows all the books that are included for the package. I pasted them below:
Full access to six eBooks, with a premium option available that includes eight:Taylor, Lillis & Lynn: Fundamentals of Nursing
Hinkle & Cheever: Brunner & Suddarth's Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing
Karch: Focus on Nursing Pharmacology
Ricci, Kyle & Carman: Maternity and Pediatric Nursing
Videbeck: Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing
Porth: Essentials of Pathophysiology
Marquis & Huston: Leadership Roles and Management Functions in Nursing ( Premium solution only )
Weber & Kelley: Health Assessment in Nursing ( Premium solution only )
When you go to the Canvas--> New Student Nursing Orientation "course" it has a module named REQUIRED CLASSROOM MATERIALS
Required titles (complete with bibliographic information):
Adams, M. and Urban, C. (2016). Pharmacology: Connections to nursing practice (3rd ed.). Boston, MA: Pearson Education.
LeBon, M.. (2015). Study guide for fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care(8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.
Taylor, C., Lillis, C., Lynn, P. (2015). Fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care. (8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.
Taylor, C., Lillis, C., Lynn, P. (2015). Skill checklists for fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care (8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.
So they're two different lists of books. I just sent this information over to Edna Shields and Wendy Ortiz to clarify which textbooks are actually needed.
Let us know because I am also confused on this matter

I'm planning on coming FSW tomorrow about a few things, I'll ask about the books too and post response here.
Were you able to get in contact with of someone today? I'm at work otherwise I would try giving them a call.
Hi guys!
Just got off a conference call with both the Lee and Charlotte campuses.
The books listed on the Canvas Orientation are wrong, those are for last semester.
This semester all books will be from the publisher Lippincott and are E-books. You can get hole-punched loose leaf printed copies for $50 more. They will also have a physical copy in the library.
There was some confusion about whether to purchase the access code through the bookstore or Lippincott’s website. One person on the call said the package must be purchased at the bookstore as each package is personalized for the campus and cheaper. However, when I read the titles offered online through the publisher they said those were the titles found at the bookstore. And as for the price, the bookstore didn’t answer so I was not able to determine if FSW will actually be the cheaper option.
Both campuses will be looking into this, correcting Canvas, and sending out an email for clarification.

This is the response I got from Wendy (Academic Adviser):
I have reached out to the book store for further information.
The bookstore bundle include e-books and access codes for the materials you will need throughout the program.
Please purchase according to the ISBN number provided from the acceptance packet.
So I am still not really sure if things can be purchased separately or not.. I'm really not trying to spend $1,600 on some textbooks though.. it should be spread out over the course of the program and not all at once..?
I am able to find all of these books online through Amazon for almost half of the price. Where do you find the ATI and
Hi guys,
I'm a level four student at FSW. I didn't get to read all of the pages but I like to check up on the FSW threads because it was confusing for me when I first started too. To clarify on the book purchases, yes I agree its expensive and I was forced to take out a loan just for the books. The books come with two access codes which is needed and used each semester. If you buy the bundle it comes with ebooks as well. The majority of my class purchased the bundle in the bookstore like I did. I can't recall how much the access codes cost itself. The ATI is also used throughout the year. Its hard to come to terms with and can be frustrating, but nursing school is expensive. Congratulations to you all who have been accepted! For those of you who weren't accepted for the Fall semester please do not give up, and try again for the Spring semester. Let me know if you have any questions, I will do my best to respond, but I am not on here much.
Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get the health form/physical exam done? I just got my health insurance reinstated a couple weeks ago and my new PCP cannot see me until October and I’ve been to MedExpress in PC and North Port and neither will do it because of the mental health part of the form.

Update: Just in case anyone else has this same problem about the mental health section of the form, Millennium Walk In Clinic in Port Charlotte took me in and is doing my physical exam now for $95. ??
