FSW Fall 2019

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to get a topic started on FSW's Fall 2019 cycle. The application deadline is May 15th. Here are my stats:

When this spring semester ends, I will have taken 8 out of the 9 pre-reqs. (3.62 GPA) I plan on taking A & P II in the summer. I am also taking the TEAS for the first time in May. I am a little stressed that I'm cutting it too close to the deadline and taking the TEAS without A & P II. My #1 choice is Collier ANEW, #2 is Lee ANEW.

Anybody else out there applying for Fall?

Do you know if the books are physical textbooks or are they digital?

Is Hepatitus A vaccine required?

Did you find out if this was required? Since it’s on the health from but not the list on Castle Branch. I don’t have a record of it so I’m not sure if I have to go get it now?? Thanks

Hep A vax is required. If you think you got it before but don’t have documentation you can have your titers checked via blood draw from a lab or health department.

I would assume that they are paper books with internet access codes.

Asking because when I searched the ISBN given in the acceptance letter it was for a 36 month digital subscription, not a physical book.. but someone else said they went to the bookstore. I'm planning on coming FSW tomorrow about a few things, I'll ask about the books too and post response here.

Hey guys! I’m going to be a level 4 semester student in the ANEW program at Lee! If you guys have any questions. I also have a lab coat and nursing polo to sell both size medium!

I am in Charlotte traditional and two other people that I know.

For those who are ordering there books, I ordered them off amazon used and there are on good condition & no writing for about 30$ for all three books. Saves a lot of money.

Were you able to sign up for classes? My clinicals are for non-traditional and every time I try to do the online nursing orientation as well as the nursing colloquium it is saying that pages can not be loaded or that they do not exist. Pretty frustrating.....

What books ? The list they gave it has one for $1000 and the other ati book that I thought we had to get at the book store

I'm honestly confused about what books are needed. In the nursing acceptance packet it lists the ISBN: 9781975115692. When doing a google search you can find the Lippincott web-store where it shows all the books that are included for the package. I pasted them below:

Full access to six eBooks, with a premium option available that includes eight:

Taylor, Lillis & Lynn: Fundamentals of Nursing

Hinkle & Cheever: Brunner & Suddarth's Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing

Karch: Focus on Nursing Pharmacology

Ricci, Kyle & Carman: Maternity and Pediatric Nursing

Videbeck: Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing

Porth: Essentials of Pathophysiology

Marquis & Huston: Leadership Roles and Management Functions in Nursing ( Premium solution only )

Weber & Kelley: Health Assessment in Nursing ( Premium solution only )

When you go to the Canvas--> New Student Nursing Orientation "course" it has a module named REQUIRED CLASSROOM MATERIALS

Required titles (complete with bibliographic information):

Adams, M. and Urban, C. (2016). Pharmacology: Connections to nursing practice (3rd ed.). Boston, MA: Pearson Education.

LeBon, M.. (2015). Study guide for fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care(8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.

Taylor, C., Lillis, C., Lynn, P. (2015). Fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care. (8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.

Taylor, C., Lillis, C., Lynn, P. (2015). Skill checklists for fundamentals of nursing: The art and science of person-centered nursing care (8th ed.). Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer.

So they're two different lists of books. I just sent this information over to Edna Shields and Wendy Ortiz to clarify which textbooks are actually needed.
