FSCJ Spring 2012 Hopeful w/???s

Published

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.

I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Yes, good luck with the induction today!!! I am filling out my FASFA today and hope that I will at least qualify for a government loan. I would rather have a government loan over a private because interest rates are lower. We will see!

Hi ladies and gents :)

Well, I took the PSB-NAT and let me just say "what a horrifying experience." lol. Seriously, started the test and I completely froze at first...as in, my mind went completely blank and I felt like I was reading a foreign language. Then I chilled out a bit. But still, I know I could have done better if I had not frozen up.

So, my total points come to 205.34. Hopefully I get in with that...and then if I do get in, I hope to get nights at Deerwood :)

What a coincidence, I knew I couldn't be the only one hoping to get into to nursing school with a newborn, I'm pregnant, due the first week of November. I actually got accepted to the summer program, but along came baby, so we decided to wait. I also will be applying for the N/W program as I'm sure many of us are, goodluck to everyone :)

Michele, I'm sure it will be enough. 205 is a strong score from my understanding. I also want to get into the night program. Hopefully we both make it!:jester:

im applying to the spring 2012 with 200.4.....talk about cutting it close. I have 117 GPA and 83 on NAT> I wish I had another opportunity to take it, there just isnt the time now :(

Hi Chzwoman :) Sounds like we are identical on the whole GPA/NAT exam. I also have the 117 points for GPA...then I only got like an 88.34 on the NAT. I'm telling you, I totally froze up :) So, my total points come to 205.34. Between you and I, I think we have a really good chance. :) Keep the faith sister!

Thanks T2N2012 :) Well, as far as some of the people posting on here with their AWESOME scores, I do fret about my skinny score...lol.

That would be great to get the N/W, wouldn't it? My main deal with wanting N/W is being so close to the Deerwood campus and I currently work nights (helps with childcare...hubby can watch the kids then). So, here's to you T2N...and to all of us hopefuls...and to N/W program!! :nurse: I still have to submit the app and I'm taking my BLS class next Tuesday.

Does anyone know how FSCJ calculates transfer credit? I just moved here from the Midwest and at my old school Anatomy and Physiology were taken separately with labs and were worth 5 credit hours.

I studied like a madwoman for the last two weeks for the NAT test because I had NO idea what to expect, but I didn't do as well as I would have hoped. The time on the academic aptitude section tripped me up. I didn't realize you had to work so fast! I only got through 1/4 of the problems :(.

What do you all thing my chances are? My scores are as follows:

NAT TEST:

Academic Aptitude 49

Reading Comprehension: 21

Natural Sciences: 71

TOTAL: 141/.64 = 90.24

Grades: 106 (factoring in 5 credits a piece for Anatomy and Physiology. Plus, I have not taken DEP 2004. It was not a requirement for the nursing program at my last school. An "A" in that would have given me 12 points I REALLY need :crying2:)

GRAND TOTAL: 196.24

I am thinking that if I do get in Spring 2012 then it will be by the skin of my teeth. My overall points aren't terrible, but I was REALLY hoping my NAT score would help me get well over 200 points.

I think the score was something close to 196 to get in last time. But I'm not for sure, I think I remember a girl in my class getting in with 196. Hope this helps, lets keep our fingers crossed!

It changes every semester...when I asked Ms. ***** what the cutoff was for last semester she said 199.xx. Again, that was last semester and it changes every time. There is no way to know what the cutoff will be for spring. Also, not everyone offered a spot takes it, ya know?

:redbeathe Hang in there EmGray. You never know who will take the spots and who won't, or even what the cutoff will be this term. If you don't get in this time take those two classes over again while you wait for the next deadline. I can see you really want this, so make it happen! :)
