Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.
I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Putting in my application tomorrow (a little late but in time). Last time I applied for Fall 2010, and they calculated my points wrong!! The cutoff was 201.04 and I calculated a 201 500 times. Someone tell me if I am doing this right:GPA
AP 1 - B - 3x4 = 12
AP 2 - C - 2x4 = 8
Micro - B - 3x4 = 12
Algebra - A - 4x3 = 12
Humanities - A - 4x3 = 12
Hum G&D - B - 3x3 = 9
Comp 1 - B - 3x3 = 9
Psych - C - 2x3 = 6
Sociology - B 3x3 = 9
Total = 89
NAT
Academic Aptitude = 66
Reading Comp = 34
Natural Science = 75
Totalx.64 = 112
GRAND TOTAL = 201
I am pretty sure I did it right. This time I highlighted all of the grades for them to count on my transcripts and made a point sheet of everything I calculated myself. They somehow came up with a 189 for me last time, so I didn't get in. I am really hoping I am calculating this right and really hoping they do as well!
Looks correct to me :) As long as you took your "raw data" score numbers and not the % from the NAT, everything works out like you have it from what I see. That is scary to think that they calculated it wrong on you the first time!! Yikes
Hey =)
I was going to submit my FSCJ Spring 2012 application today, but I found out my transcripts at FSCJ are not as up to date as I had thought they were.
I'm about to go see if I can get someone to update the transcript at South Campus, but I was wondering:
Will the nursing program accept an official, sealed Transcript (from UNF) in addition to the one they ask us to print out from online?
I don't see why they wouldn't, but people can be absurd about paperwork.
Thanks for anyone who can tell me anything!
Also, does anyone have the correct contact information for the lady who is in charge of the RN program? Her listed phone number is incorrect on every FSCJ source I've looked at.
When I got my official FSCJ transcript in the mail a couple of weeks ago it didn't have my last 2 semester of classes listed on it (which is strange because I already have an AA and would have needed all those classes to graduate). However, my unofficial transcript on connections was up to date about 4 weeks after I submitted my transcript from my previous college.
Is it just me, or is FSCJ a little slow when it comes to getting paperwork into their system?
Now we all get to play the waiting game. I'm not super worried about getting accepted, but I sure am worried about juggling two kids and the N/W program. I've heard it's pretty brutal that first semester.

For sure Enigma! :) I'm with you on that...3 kids (2, 4, 7) and would love to get N/W program so I don't have to do daycare for my youngest. But, whatever works :) When I dropped off my application, it was the first time I have ever set foot on North Campus, and I must say I was impressed. It's a really nice campus.
I retook my NAT today and did much better than the first time I took it - I scored 19 points higher this time. I dropped my application at the post office and had it post marked today.
I am hoping for n/w as well Spring 2012. Right now I am sitting at 211.92 in total points (114 in grades and 97.92 for NAT). The cut off from last fall was 199.6.
Some helpful tips on the NAT:
On the science portion you need to know definitions of: cells, mitosis, molecules, elements, pH, homeostasis, protozoa, microorganism, osmosis, diffusion, and isotopes. Know what a catalyst is, what a chemical change is (burning wood, lighting a match, frying an egg) and physical change (freezing water, melting ice, vaporization), know that an aqueous solution is a solution in which the water is the solvent, know that a saline solution is made up of NaCL and water.
On the math portion - it was mostly percent questions - also know how to convert a fraction to a percent.
On the spelling portion there were several words like irrelevant, adherent - know the difference between "ant" and "ent" words.
Hope this helps! Good luck.
