FSCJ Spring 2012 Hopeful w/???s

Published

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.

I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hello all, I applied last week, and I am pretty nervous. I have 209.something points, but you never know. I already applied for the fall term and got in Days, but I was a bit overwhelmed when I realized how much money you have to spend before you start classes. Be prepared, you have like a month and a half to get everything together, and it is like 700-800 bucks. I decided to save up my money and try again for the spring. Getting BSN prerequisites out of the way for now. I just wanted to give ya'll a heads up, because no one told me. Good luck to everyone! I wish you the best. :D

Thanks, and good luck to you too! I wonder when orientation will be if we do get in? I know a great deal of us will need to get off work since, it is in the am (I will be n/w).

In the packet they sent me for Fall 2011, the orientation was over the course of two days.

Does anyone know if the orientation was in the beginning of the month(December) or toward the middle of the month. I would like to go out of town the first week in December, but I would hate to miss orientation if I get in:jester:

While I waiting to find out whether I've been accepted in the N/W program, I'm making a list of all the things I need to buy before January.

I'm curious if anyone is planning on purchasing an iPad (or other tablet), a smartphone, a netbook, or other electronic gadget to use for nursing school. I'm trying to decide if I want to lug around hard copies of textbooks or if I want to go the ebook route. I also wonder what would be the easiest way to take notes for class.

Any thoughts?

I think I will just go the normal way, textbook and spirals for notes. I like having the book in my hand to highlight and sticky note.

I'm wondering if we can put some of the items we need on our Christmas wish list or if I should get most of the items ahead of time. Any thoughts?

I had to giggle because this thread has become awfully quiet since the deadline has passed. I am trying to keep busy working out, working full time, taking care of my three kiddos, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't want to tackle the mailman every time I see him walking up my path. I definitely check the mail with gusto these days and greet him as he flips open the mailbox to deliver my mail...only to go through it and find it's all bills and advertisement inserts...ARGHHH! :)

So, we all wait with bated breath. I know they say it takes 6-8 weeks, but I am HOPING that the process doesn't 'really' take that long. sigh...so, for now, we just wait and hope, and tackle our mailmen/women in the hopes of getting that letterhead with the coveted FSCJ logo :)

To make matters worse, the other day I received a packet from the surgical tech program, forgetting that I had inquired on it...I thought "Could it be? Is this it?!!!!!!! YAY!!!!" Nope, not it. lol :)

Oh yeah, and let's not forget THIS thread, which I check all the time now hoping SOMEONE, ANYONE has heard something.

Michele, I agree the boards have become quite. I'm sure this time next month we will all be glued to the mailbox!

I think it will take at least another month to hear anything. I feel like recent semester had to wait the full 8 weeks before they started getting letters.

I'm trying to schedule to be out of town before Christmas. I wonder what happens if we miss orientation. I would be gone December 15 and 16 a Thursday and a Friday. Does anyone know if this is typically when orientation is or the missing orientation rules?

I'm not sure, but would like to know as well. I have family coming into town for the holidays and we wanted to plan a couple days at Disney.

Orientation is mandatory, I still have the Fall 2011 acceptance packet. It lasts two days, and it was on a Monday and Tuesday for Fall, three weeks before the start of the term (August 8&9). The way I figure it, orientation should be around Dec 19&20, but thats just my guess. We should start seeing letters mid-November. They say eight weeks, but I got mine in six. I hope this helps!
