Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.
I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
I took the PSB-NAT this afternoon and scored a 115.84, so I'll be applying for N/W with 235.84 points. The test wasn't hard, but it was impossible to answer every question without guessing toward the end.
The hardest section for me was the reading, which surprised me because I'm an avid reader. The passages are written in very formal and dated language. I read the questions first and just skimmed the passages for my answers. Even then I ran out of time and had to guess on quite a few.
The academic aptitude was pretty straightforward. There were no analogies on the test which made me VERY happy!
Natural Sciences was easy, although there were more questions pertaining to Micro that I was expecting. I figured it would be more geared towared A & P.
I emailed ****** ***** this morning and she said that they are offering N/W on the Deerwood Center for Spring 2012. Hopefully I'll see some of you there :)
I was really surprised that I did so well on the NAT. The only thing I did to prepare was review my basic math skills (especially fractions and percents), and skim through a few practice tests I found online to see how much I had retained from A&P, Chemistry, and Micro.
I'm due to give birth to my second child in 12 days and it has been hard trying to stay focused!
Now I need to worry about how I'm going to pay for classes considering I already have an AA degree and most likely won't qualify for financial aid. Is anyone familiar with WorkSource?
I wouldn't worry too much about not getting n/w with a 225. It's a very good score! If you look over threads from previous years you'll see that the cut off is usually somewhere in the lower 220's (or less). I think the cut off for the entire program last term was around 198.
This whole process has been so stressful!
Alirght you two, you need to stop with worrying about your awesome scores. I have 200.48 and am praying to get in with that. Last semester cut off was 199 and summer was 195. I know it all depends on how many apply and what everyone's scores are, but the two of you are totally fine. So please stop freaking out about it cause many of us, like me are WAY lower! Also enigma78, I am pregnant with my second as well and due in less than 4 weeks. Crazy, if we do both get in we will be in the same situation. Good study partners. I also have another degree, a bachelors in business so if you hear anything about financial assistance let me know and vice versa. Good luck to everyone!
I'm putting my application in the mail today, and I'm scheduled to give birth by induction tomorrow. I always have to make things complicated :)
I'm assuming we'll hear whether we're accepted into the program sometime in early December. Most scholarships I've seen so far require acceptance into the nursing program before they'll consider you. Hopefully I'll get help with funding my education without having to take out a private loan.

You can apply at any campus, but I've heard if you want the most accurate information you should go to the North Campus.
I was told last year that there would be N/W classes this Spring, but it might have changed since then.
I'm taking the PSB-NAT in a couple of hours (NERVOUS doesn't even explain how I feel!). If for some reason there aren't N/W classes in the Spring I'll have time to retake it for a better score.
