FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

:lol2:

I scheduled my first NAT for May 23rd. I am taking Micro over the summer. As of right now, I have 104 pts from classes. I am reviewing a study guide someone donated to my cause.

How long did it take to hear back from FSCJ last semester? I am so anxious as it is right now, I can't imagine what the waiting will do to my sanity this summer.

I am taking it on the 16th! Good luck to you! Im hoping it is much easier than I am anticipating...I have heard it is, so my fingers are crossed! Also, I believe the wait is about 8weeks to hear back from them. Going to be the longest 8weeks EVER!!

I hope it's easier than we think. The book I have been practicing with has some words that I have never heard before in the Synonyms and Analogies section. Do you know what the max points available are for the NAT? All I need is 100 on the NAT to be over 200 pts. Does that mean I only have to get 50% correct?

btw, Good Luck FutureRN022!

I believe the max pts on the NAT is 120. You will have three raw scores at the end for science, reading, and academic aptitude (spelling, math, etc.) and you add those three numbers together and then multiply the total by 0.64 to get your points from the test. I am hoping for atleast 100 pts as well. I have 105pts with my pre reqs, so id really like to get at least 100 pts to have a secure score to apply with!! Fingers crossed!! I am confident I can pull it off! :D

@FutureRN022, I am confident we can both do it! I am one of those people that worries, stresses, studies, researches, then worries some more before tests...then after all that, I end up with a really good score. I am always scared that the one time I don't make a big deal about a test, I will fail. If I can apply with 210+ I will be ecstatic! but I'll be happy with 200 if it gets me in.

I was just looking over my transcript and realized that I started taking classes in Fall 09...it has taken me nearly 2 yrs to get to this point (PT classes with a FT job and 2 kids) It feels like it was just yesterday that I was registering for my first class...I hope time flies while we are in nursing school too.

That is the exact semester I started as well, Fall 09! Im right there with you, part time classes, a job, and two little ones at home. It surely has flown by...and yes, lets hope nursing school does as well!! Haha. Those 8 weeks of waiting are going to seem like an eternity...

What practice book are you all using? I was going to look through the Arco Nursing Exams book. Don't think that's the exact title, but Arco is the company. I looked at the few problems on the PSB website.

I've been a lurker for awhile now on this forum, but I would like to wish all who are applying the best of luck. I turned in my app today (I think I wanted to torture myself with the 10+ week wait) and took the NAT back in January. My advice for those taking it soon is not to overwhelm yourself by trying to cover too much info. The hardest section to me was the math, only because you have little time to answer a buttload of questions. My suggestion is to only work on the problems you can quickly figure out in order to get as many points as you can. I definitely focused on shapes, yes, shapes. If you are not a great speller, brush up! The science part was Chem and bio fundamentals. Just remember to relax while taken it. I scored 70, 30, and 74 raw for a total of 111.36 to addx to prerequisites. So it's definitely possible to score over 100. Don't stress

You know, it's funny you mentioned shapes. I was trying to look over the sample questions from the PSB-NAT website. One of the shape analogies was impossible. I even had someone else look at it. The answer they gave did NOT make sense. Did anyone else notice that???

For FSCJ, the spelling and (I think) the academic aptitude sections don't count towards your score.

I just looked at the packet and you're right, spelling does not count. But the academic aptitude section (verbal, arithmetic, and nonverbal) is counted, as well as reading comprehension and natural science. Brushing up on spelling doesn't hurt though lol
