FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

:lol2:

My husband is a hopeful. he can take the NAT 1 more time. I hope the smaller number of opening does not affect the numbers too much in the fall. I am a nervous wreck for him. :redpinkhe he's lucky i like him!! He gets to relax while I STRESS out. lol

Case in point.. he is asleep and I am searching for information....:smackingf

I've been a lurker for awhile now on this forum, but I would like to wish all who are applying the best of luck. I turned in my app today (I think I wanted to torture myself with the 10+ week wait) and took the NAT back in January. My advice for those taking it soon is not to overwhelm yourself by trying to cover too much info. The hardest section to me was the math, only because you have little time to answer a buttload of questions. My suggestion is to only work on the problems you can quickly figure out in order to get as many points as you can. I definitely focused on shapes, yes, shapes. If you are not a great speller, brush up! The science part was Chem and bio fundamentals. Just remember to relax while taken it. I scored 70, 30, and 74 raw for a total of 111.36 to addx to prerequisites. So it's definitely possible to score over 100. Don't stress

Thanks, I feel much better about the whole thing. I just started Micro and really need to focus on that. My professor seems very knowledgeable but doesn't provide much info other than the syllabus and due dates. I am taking a hybrid course (no formal lectures, just weekly labs) I would give anything for a study guide! lol

As far as the NAT, I will review what I can before next Monday, mainly the math and science portions. I will probably toss and turn all night Sunday night but I hope to walk away with enough points to be accepted in the Fall.

Are the NAT results instant? Do we get a break during testing?

Thanks,

NJ

Yes the results are instant if you take it on the computer. Once you finish the exam, the person in the testing office will give you a printout of your score. I don't recall having a break, but the exam is not too long

No break- just asked my husband. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone reading this completed Micro?

Do you think it would be worth my time to put together a study group?

Do you know of any sites that are useful for studying Microbiology?

Also, do I have to "Provide evidence of current CPR certification" with my application? I am reading this off the FSCJ website. I thought I read somewhere that we can provide that after we are accepted? Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before turning in my application. :uhoh3:

DEFINITELY form a study group for Micro. It's not an easy class, and with no study guide, you'll need to know pretty much everything to be prepared. I had a great study group, we got together EVERY class day an hour before class (9am class), and we rocked that class, and I'm pretty sure we all got A's! I know I did!

Also, no need for CPR/first aid until you get accepted. I plan on getting mine right before letters come out, as well as some of the other things....feeling that confident! lol

Wishing you all luck, just turned my packet it yesterday....super excited....but not for the wait :(

I can testify to study groups, I was lucky enough to have the same group for two semesters. Now they are gone and I am all alone :crying2:

I'm right behind you, Kimmeeb...I will be turning my app in next Monday after I take the NAT. I am sooooooooooo ready to get this show on the road! I hope and pray that we all get in. :clown:

Just checking in from the summer students who just started 1st term. Were freaking dying over here. ENJOY YOURSELF NOW!!!! Cause it sucks!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Pharmacology=The Widow Maker:uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

K nurse-one-day, is it really that bad? What would you say is the hardest thing about Pharmacology? I see many horror stories on AN about it. Is there anything us future nursing students can do to prepare?

I hope it gets better for you. What is on your schedule for your first semester?

-NJ

Its just a ton of work. But, even with that having been said, its still the best decision Ive ever made and I dont regret it at all. The biggest suggestion is to keep up w/ your microbiology and AP2 b/c you will need it in Pharm. They really do make u take those prereqs for a reason lol.

My schedule is:

Monday-test from 9:15-10:45

Tuesday- Pharm 9-12 and Concepts 1-3

Wednesday-Techniques 8-12. We start clinicals at memorial in a few weeks

Thursday-Assesment 1-4

1st term is the hardest, after this it keeps getting better and fun too. Its hard but I know ill make it. :D:D
