FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

:lol2:

You know what I just double cheked my denial letter for Fall 2010 and it was 201.24. You're right! lol...too many numbers going through my head right now. ;) Good luck to everyone!!!

Haha! I can only imagine! Good luck to you, too! Thanks again for everything.

Do you think taking the NAT on May 23rd for the June 1st deadline is cutting it too close? I am taking it online. I am contemplating two dates, May 16th and May 20th (or anywhere in between.)

My 1st day in Micro class will be May 14th. I am taking a 16 wk hybrid Micro. I was leaning towards May 23rd in hopes that I will have learned a little about Micro to help me on the NAT.

I took my NAT 5 days before the October 1st deadline last year and submitted my paperwork the day before the deadline.... as long as you get your stuff in on time it doesn't matter...

Oh, and micro didn't help me on the NAT, I was also in Micro at the time and it made no difference, don't care what anyone says about Micro helping because it didn't help me, they were basic science questions. There was however a lot of electrical question on my test. Before deciding to go to nursing school I was an electrical apprentice for 3 years, that helped me tremendously. Also, the spelling part had words I had never even seen before in my life. For that section I used deductive reasoning... It is hard to explain, but I narrowed down the answer by whichever word part appeared more in the choices... worked pretty well for me doing it that way. Good luck :-)

Oh, and when you get into nursing school you should be aware that they have changed the rules about passing the course... you now have to maintain a passing average on all your tests in order to pass the class... so if you have 850 point (which would be an 85 C) and your testing average is a 79... you fail the course...

thanks for the info cb4ever07

I have never heard of electrical questions being on the NAT..that's interesting. Can you give an example? What does electricity have to do with nursing?

As far as the testing avg, a C is considered failing? wow...hopefully I won't be in that category.

The grading scale is different in nursing school 93-100 is an A, 86-92 is a B and 80-85 is a C. Anything below an 80 is an F. There were questions about amperage an wattage, what a transformer is used for, etc... I don't remember everything, but I do remember thanking God for leading my path because if I wouldn't have had experience in the electrical field I would not have done as well as I did. And the questions on the NAT are not about nursing, it is more like an SAT or something, advanced knowledge questions I guess you could say. It is a test to test your knowledge in different areas. I never used my NAT prep book, but I wish I would have because like I said before, the spelling kicked my butt! I scored the lowest in that category, and that was still in the high average... everything else scored in the highest column, forgot what it was called. I think logic and deductive reasoning really help, after all, those two skills are extremely necessary for nurses to have and I think that is why they came up with the NAT. I dunno, this is all my opinion, but if you are worried then take it twice. That way the first time you get an idea of where your weaknesses are (they give you a print out of your scores) and then study those areas before taking the test again. Or wing it like I did and cross your fingers and toes :-)

So, I've been a member for a while now, just hovering and reading everyone's posts. I'm happy to say that I'm a Fall hopeful also, and look forward to getting this program started. I'll be applying with right around 202 and am confident that I'll have a seat. Good luck to all of us :)

I'm planning on taking the NAT on the 17th, a Tuesday. Anyone else??

Also, to the person who commented about taking it close to the application deadline, my plan is to have my whole package together and drop it off after I take the NAT. That's my plan. :twocents:

I did the same thing with summer. As soon as I took the NAT the 2nd time, I immediately walked over and submitted my package! Good luck on the NATS!!!

Did you not get into the summer program? Does anyone know what the cutoff for summer 2011 was?

No, and didn't think I would. I applied with 180.52, but applied only because I could. The cut-off was 195.84 (per my denial letter)

Thanks for the cut off score. Good Luck on getting into the Fall semester!!
