FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

:lol2:

Hi! I am new here :) I am just wondering if anyone knows about the rumor of having to have CHM with a lab rather than any CHM. I dosn't make sense to me since CHM dosn't count in your points..

Thanks!

You DO NOT need a chemistry class with a lab to get into the ADN program. They say to take it with a lab because you will need it if you want to get your bachelors down the road so that way you don't take chemistry twice. I only took the chemistry for liberal arts which didn't have a lab. I will worry about that next year when I go back for my bachelors. If you want to save time and money go with the lab course. WHen I took it all of the lab classes were full so I just did the regular chemistry course. :)

I know a lot of crammers too, but it is going to depend on how you study and what helps you learn best. Days is different from N/W because our tests are at 11 am so we don't get to study much on Mondays before the exam. That would be very helpful though. I have to write out things to remember them, others have to hear it out loud, and still others learn just by reading. What kind of learner you are will determine how you study. Good Luck.

I really only get to study Mondays while I am at work because well my job is slow and retarded so I just make the most of my time here! lol...Thanksfully our professors have excellent powerpoints because it seems the testing material really comes from that. I have to re-write things to so it stick in my brain. For some reason if I do a cramming/writing session two days straight it sticks in my brain better. Everyone is different though and nursing tests are like no other test anyone will take. I also watch a lot of videos on the internet about things I am studying about. Visual aids rock as well as mnemonics!!

I'm applying for Fall 2011 with a 204 overall score. I'm able to retake my NAT again in late May.

Is 204 good enough to get in?

Oh yea!! You should definitely be getting your white packet!! I had a 220, but the lowest accepted score was a 194, or 197 for this spring. Congrats on such a great score!! And I look forward to seeing you around!!

Do you have to be CPR certified before you apply for the Nursing program? Or can you wait until you get accepted to get it?

You can wait until you get accepted to get CPR certified. That way you won't have to get recertified while you are in the program. The CPR certification lasts for two years. If you get it and then don't get accepted chances are you will have to get recertified sometime during the nursing program, most likely at the very end. :)

thanks for the info melissa, how are you doing so far?

That's great! Thank you so much. Maybe you can help me out on something else. I took the NAT in February, so I'm able to take it again right before the deadline for Fall 2011- which is what I'm applying for. My total score right now is 204.84, do you think I should take the NAT again or hold off?

Honestly with that score you would most likely get in, but when I applied Fall 2010 the cut off was 203, so since Fall's points seem to have a higher cut off I would take the NAT again. It can only help. I retook mine and got 17 points higher on it and ended up with 207.08.

Pretty well, but tired and exhausted! First term seems to be taking forever to complete. It is a lot of stress, studying and work, but after a month you get in the groove of things and start to know your schedule better so it's not as bad as everyone thinks. In the beginning you want to pull your hair out (and sometimes other people's hair too)...but it fades away once clinicals start. Then it gets exciting. lol...finals are going on right now and so far I am doing pretty good. Pharmacology is by far the hardest subject so my advice is learn as much as you can right now before even getting into the program. Try Googling nursing pharmacology and start reading NOW! :)

Alright, that sounds good. I heard that the cut off was 201 for Fall 2010, but I might have misread that. Thank you again though! You've helped me a lot!:)

You know what I just double cheked my denial letter for Fall 2010 and it was 201.24. You're right! lol...too many numbers going through my head right now. ;) Good luck to everyone!!!
