We say M-R-S-A

I have heard M.R.S.A. and "mer-sa" both, but personaly prefer "killer flesh eating super bug!!!" (thank you prime time news!)

Specializes in ICU.

I think it is a regional thing. In some areas I hear M-R-S-A, in others people look at you crazy if you say that.

I hear M-R-S-A

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

this is just driving me crazy. i am so sick of hearing m.e.r.s.a... how about mrsa and leave it at that. what's up with all the cutzie nicknames for a rotten bacteria.

Inside my head I say mer-sa but out loud MRSA, which is how I've always heard it at work. I grew up reading a lot more than speaking, so there are a number of words that are different in my head.

I've never heard "marsa" (Marsha w/o the h).

We say "mersa" or M. R. S. A. Docs, labs folks, nurses, etc., all say it either way.

I'm ok with that.

We call heart bypass a "cabbage" after all (CABG).
