For those who don't wear scrubs, what do you wear to work?

For those of you who aren't required to wear scrubs to work, what do you usually wear? I love my hospital job, but get very tired of scrubs. I love having a day job where I can mix it up a bit!

Specializes in Certified Med/Surg tele, and other stuff.

I see people wearing uniform pants with T shirts. Some will throw a printed scrub jacket over the top and switch it up on occasion.

I wear dress pants and blouses/tops suitable for an office. If I have to do anything such as dressings or catheterizations I have a lab coat in my office. At one point we all wore scrubs, now we all wear office clothes. I do not miss my scrubs at all.

Specializes in maternal child, public/community health.

I work in the community, not in a hospital. I can wear business casual but usually wear scrubs. They are made to stand up to repeated washing and are comfortable for sitting on the floor at clients' homes. When doing a visit in a third floor un-airconditioned apartment, the scrubs are so much cooler. I always wear brightly colored printed tops and use it to teach moms about what kind of colors and patterns attract babies. It is also easier - like a uniform - not too much thinking about what I am going to wear. Still somedays I feel like wearing something else; those days I wear business casual - slacks and a blouse or logowear (with our company name).

Specializes in Hospice / Psych / RNAC.

When in psych we were allowed to wear our street clothes. In other places where I did MDS work I wore street clothes with a lab coat. Of course I'm not talking about jeans and a t-shirt but dress pants and blouses, vest, more of a business attire.

Specializes in PICU, ICU, Hospice, Mgmt, DON.

I do case management for insurance companies. It's strictly an office~telephone job...so it's totally casual for us. I usually do wear comfortable slacks/jeans and tee shirts..now that it's football season again, we will wear our favorite team t shirts and jerseys on fridays and have our "face offs"...(there's about 30 of us nurses and 10 of us are football nuts)

GO COLTS...(yes, I know "He's" out for the season):crying2:

Specializes in Correctional, QA, Geriatrics.

I'm in a non clinical job so it's business casual for me. Since I travel constantly I prefer knits and light weight cotton/cotton blends. They fold well and a quick press or steam makes them look fresh when unpacked.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I work on a Med-Surg unit and I wear scrub bottoms and a white t-shirt. (:

We wear these:

But different colours for RNs, Charge nurses, Assistants, radiology etc.

Jeans or or regular pants and a shirt, sometimes a sweat shirt. When I worked at the state hospital everyone, even the docs, wore jeans and tee shirts. I remember in orientation there, they told us not to wear anything we cared too much about as eventually it would get wrecked. We could even wear decent shorts.

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

kneehighs and flipflops!! (sorry, I couldn't resist)

Specializes in psychiatric ER, Mental Health.

We are not supposed to wear scrubs. Working in the psych er, they want us to be more casual. I wont wear slacks and blouse, too nice to get messed up. I ususally wear some sort of cargo pant, with a print shirt and a nicer hoodie (not the sweatshirt material) Every once in a while, I wear a long skirt and top.
