Ok, I know we should be frugal after we graduate and invest in retirement, pay off debt and student loans, etc. However, for a little fun, what kinds of things do you look forward to buying after you graduate and are working as a nurse?
For me: a Dyson vacuum cleaner ($500) and a set of NARS blushes ($200), the best blush on the planet. I've also been fixated on buying a Mini Cooper:
I suspect I'll buy the Dyson and NARS, but the Mini Cooper may just not be a good financial choice.
So what do you all want to buy?
After I pay off the loans...My huge unrealistic dream is to have a craftsman house in Pasadena either in Bungalow Heaven or in the Hamilton school district area, filled with fun things like furniture from Shabby Chic and Anthropologie. I want a Prius, an electra cruiser with a basket so I can ride around town, and then I want to aggresively save so that I can be a foster-adopt mom before I'm 35. I want to be able to send my kids to a great high school and to a college of their choice with out having to worry too much about money. My post is a little ridiculous but I'm putting this out there because sometimes putting your dreams out there helps them to become true...

Ok, replied earlier but I'll let myself dream just a little....
a BIGGER house or addition to this one...
a new coach purse....
a vaca for the family...
new appliances for the kitchen...
a hairdo....my roots are showing!!!!
a pedicure...
I'm sure there is more but why be greedy:)
What a fun post! I'd like to be able to buy a home. That's my big goal. And to pay-off any remaining credit card debt!Little fun things would be:
a day at a spa for some much-needed pampering
Wii with Trauma Center
new clothes
:)
I got Trauma center..i dont care for it..not all its cracked up to be. My 7 year old is pretty good at it though..maybe im not cracked up to be a trauma nurse, since i can manage to kill everyone on a game??
I want breasts...shallow maybe..but i still do :)
And a red Dooney and Burke purse..once i get a job, DH cant whine so much ove rmy handbag obsession
Well I really will pay off my student loans from undergrad school, pay off my car (which is brand new now, go figure...), pay off my mom's credit cards for her...
But I will be buying:
A boat
Patio Furniture
An elliptical (I've been asking for Christmas every stinking year and never get)
A nintendo system (Wii or Wii3 which it will probably be by then :))
New countertops for my kitchen or a new house all together if my troubled relationship doesn't work out after all
But then again, I plan on doing an MSN or DNP program so...I'm not sure if any of this will be anytime soon or not :)
I sound really boring, but....nothing. I'm just looking to add to my kids' college funds, be able to take a vacation more frequently with my husband and kids, etc. Before I became a SAHM, I was making very, very good money and even then, I didn't spend a lot. Well, I guess I did have a Lexus---and now I drive a minivan :chuckle...but I wouldn't change it for the world!!!

I am like some of the earlier posters I would like to be able to pay my bills and not have to tell my kids that the things they wanted would have to wait. Then I would love to take an Alaskan Cruise... (always wanted to go after finishing medic school but not happening on a medic salary.) I just received my RN on Dec. 31 2008 and I am starting my new job tomorrow.. so we will see how it goes... keeping my fingers crossed... and no dino's.. the kids are scared of them.. :)
