Ok, I know we should be frugal after we graduate and invest in retirement, pay off debt and student loans, etc. However, for a little fun, what kinds of things do you look forward to buying after you graduate and are working as a nurse?
For me: a Dyson vacuum cleaner ($500) and a set of NARS blushes ($200), the best blush on the planet. I've also been fixated on buying a Mini Cooper:
I suspect I'll buy the Dyson and NARS, but the Mini Cooper may just not be a good financial choice.
So what do you all want to buy?
When I graduate I'll be lucky and have no debt...and hopefully none comes up between now and then(next December)..my gf is in my class too and plans on graduating at the same time. She wants to go to Disney world, I think I'll add a Disney cruise to that without her knowing(unless she reads this post :wink2:). Then I plan on buying a Lexus IS350, or IS300(old body style that I can trade my car for without having a car payment). Then I want to get a nice apartment and FAT bulldog and puggle. Couple of years from now once I've gotten critical care experience, I want to move to Austin, TX and get a house and get the Lexus IS350 if I haven't by then.. And side note, my present to myself once I get my masters, I'm gonna pay for myself to get flight lessons(always loved planes)..that's more of a plan than what I want to buy, oh well
However the trip to Texas might be delayed a little depending on how long my FNP takes. I plan on working weekends or nights while I do that. We'll see how it goes. Gotta graduate first
Well....call me materialistic, but I have a list of things I'd like to get once I finish school. Not necessarily all at once, but somedays you just need a carrot to dangle in front of yourself to keep yourself going...I'd like
A designer handbag
Designer shoes (Manolo or Choo)
A Land Rover--I'll take a used one, but it will depend on gas prices at the time
eventually a house
a vacation
a haircut (finally) and a meeting at the Bobbi Brown counter
and then start saving up for the possibility of CRNA school.
Sigh..I sound really shallow, lol. I'm really not, it's just fun to dream!! :)
I think there was a thread like this before...? But anyway, My paychecks for about a year or so will go into our savings. Then, if the market improves, we'll sell our condo and have a nice chunk of change to put down on a bigger house. Four beds (one for us, one office, 2 guest rooms), at least 2.5 baths and 0.5 to 1 acre. Ahh...they joys of no kids and an engineer + RN salary combination.

I am buying a family vacation and a (very late) honeymoon cruise!!! I figure my kids deserve a trip just for them. Plus I was married this summer (just before my first semester of nursing school) and think that the hubby and I deserve a nice cruise to the Caribbean! I think that besides graduation these will be the dreams that keep me looking forward!!! lol
