FNP CERT EXAM

Published

Just wondering if anyone has taken the AANP or ANCC FNP CERT exam recently and if so how it was? thanks kelly:):crying2:

I am getting ready to take my pretest (HESI) before graduating and still have the ANCC test to go. I am scared to death. I am using Fitzgerald review book and CD seminar. I also have a book by Hollier. Has anyone else used Hollier-- I had a friend who recently took the ANCC exam and found the Hollier book to have similar questions. Trouble is I find the Hollier book somewhat difficult and sometimes contradictory.

Stay with Fitzgerald, attend her review course if able.

Darn, I am reviewing the fitzgerald book now but just ordered the hollier book todya! I think I can still cancel it, do you think I should?

Thanks for the advice. I have the audio CDs and review syllabus for Martha Fitzgerald. There are no available seminars in my area. I have found contradictory info between Fitzgerald and Hollier. :)

I am getting ready to take the AANP and am scared to death! I have taken Fitzgerald and am also looking at an online

FNP question site, which is more interactive.

Any advice on how intensely I should study for this thing?

I ready to just get it over with so I can move on one way or another!!

Any advice from the ones who have already taken the test? Like what you would have done

differently?

Many thanks!!!

from a soon to be test taker!

I just passed after taking it for the second time. My advice is to review SEVERAL review books to get as much different information as possible.

The first time I took the Barkley live review course and only reviewed that material (because that it what the guy said to do and they have a 99% pass rate) and guess what, I was in the 1% fail rate.

The second time I tackled it completely differently and went through about four different review books and there were a few questoins from all of them that I would not have known had I not reviewed each of those books. Just keep plugging away. Make a list of the information on the questions you get wrong and review that information at the end.

You will do fine. Everyone kept telling me that but I was still terrified. When the time came to take the test I can honestly say I knew the answer for sure to probably 75% of the test but the first time I knew about THREE questions for sure.

Good luck!

Hi Dixiecup (and everyone else)

Dixie- I just wanted to congratulate you on passing the exam! :yeah:I have read several of your posts and you have had a really rough time. I am glad the worst is behind you now. I am also taking the AANP exam. I submitted my application on 5/14/10. I am having some trouble figuring out how to study. :hdvwl: I have the 2010 Fitzgerald review course on CDs and a 2008 APEA course on CDs (got cheap off Ebay). The Fitzgerald course came with the Winland-Brown book and the New edition Fitzgerald book. I also have Hollier's book of questions. I have a lot of resources but I just can't figure out the best way to approach it. For example, if I want to study Cardiac, should I review that section in each book or should I just study one book at a time? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :nurse:

Hi guys,

I am having a tough time trying to figure out which review to go by. Does anyone recommend Barkley? I have the Fitzgerald Cd's from 2004 with the book, the Hollier book, the winland-Brown book and ANCC Family book... I was wondering if that was enough? I am thinking of buying the Barkley review... I am taking the AANP certification... Thanks for any help...

I took the Barkley live review and it was a total waste of my time and money. I would recommend studying several different books though. I think that was the trick for me.

The Barkley was not a good review.

I would love to have the Barkley review. :nurse: It is very expensive, especially when compared to APEA (my personal favorite).

I didn't take the AANP exam but I did take and pass the ANCC exam. I cannot emphasize ENOUGH that you need to use several resources. I typed out a longer response on a post below under "ANCC." I realize the tests are different, but the take home message is the same .....

I'm sorry, where is the longer response? thanks
