Just wondering if anyone has taken the AANP or ANCC FNP CERT exam recently and if so how it was? thanks kelly:)
I am so nervous for this exam. I went to the Fitzgerald's 3-day review course and purchased her most recent review book as well as Winland-Brown and Dunphy's review book. I study every day for at least one hour and am completely stressed! I work full-time in a new "NP" position and am terrified of failing this exam, especially since it has changed since March. What else can I do?
Kellynp, my thoughts have been with you - let us know how it went and how you thought the exams compared. Eradak1, today is your day too, keep us posted. Dojo2, Friday is just around the corner now, I bet you are anxious to get it over with. FNPGrad, wow, that was an awesome turnaround time from the time you sent in your conferred degree/transcript, had you pre-registered before that so that your materials had already been pre-approved?
Saradke, you sound like you are following a great action plan. Did Fitzgerald's 3-day live review class have handouts also? If so, you might review those handouts. Did they spent much time on theory, policy, billing and ethical issues at the live seminar?
Yes, I am nervous also. I wish a 3 day review course had been in my area but the next one in TN was not until August. I am slated to start my new NP job on August 2... so pending Friday goes well I can do that. I too have been studying for 3 or more hours each day. I have reviewed Fitz, book and CDs (at least 3 times through or more on some). I have reviewed ethics, research, looked over medicare and taken some review questions/quizzes. I hope I am ready.
Sounds like you are ready. Here is the link right from the ANCC website. If you look on page two, it goes into detail on what they feel the exam covers regarding theory. http://www.nursecredentialing.org/Documents/Certification/TestContentOutlines/FamilyNPMar2010.aspx Best wishes and let us know how it goes. Dojo, it is great that you have a job all lined up and are ready to start in August!
Iam a big fat LOOSER, I could not have studied anymore than I did and the computer said "NOT PASSED". Iam just beside myself. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do for next time as in how to prepare better. Iam going to start doing the 15 CE'S I need to re-test. Iam not stupid but I can't pass these boards.....:crying2:
:crying2:
kellynp,
You are absolutely NOT a loser. Many people are known not to test well but do exceptionally well in practice. This type of test is tripping you up. Did the test identify the area of weakness, and if so what was it? In the end, I would have reviewed some additional college text books in the areas I felt weak in, but I had already sold them. According to the AANP website you can "sit" for their exam twice in one year Certification FAQs - AANP-CP Which test did you feel more comfortable with, the ANCC or the AANP? I think the people who have passed the exam can help give you some study tips if you let them know which area(s) you had difficulty with. I took the ANCC test.
Whatever you do, don't lose confidence in your abilities, this is a "speed bump" not a life changing event - you will pass it yet.
