Just wondering if anyone has taken the AANP or ANCC FNP CERT exam recently and if so how it was? thanks kelly:)
Thanks Deanna! Actually, I was so exhausted after the exam, I slept for most of the afternoon and went to bed early
Good point about the earphones! My exam was Sunday morning and the place was packed. The guy next to me was frantically (and quite loudly) typing away on his keyboard. I have no idea what he was taking but he was there when I arrived and still there 3 hours later when I left. Anyway, they provide each cubby with a set of noise cancelling headphones. I wore them the entire time and they worked great - even better and more comfortable than the pair I have at home. They also gave me two sheets of plastic-coated paper with a dry erase marker and eraser. You have to surrender your watch, but the computer counts down for you. :throcomp:
FNP grad- so don't blame you for sleeping!! Surprised you woke up, it probably feels like you have been in a cave for hibernation until you woke up yesterday!! May be you will want to change your name to Awaking bear:paw:!! Went over Derm today and just found the renal failure stages...don't remember having that in school!! Also when looking at the guidelines for the exam that were sent, did it say anything about us having to know scope, ethics or medicare/medicaid?
It makes me feel better knowing that they do give you the dry erase board as I am always writing down things to jog the memory!! I will continue to trudge on as the countdown continues. I thank you again for your continued support:bow:!!
I 'm thinking that the day before the exam I will go and see " Eat, Pray, Love" and then pray to whomever upstairs for an excellent outcome!!
Do you feel that you had too much time for the exam and went through and changed answers?
Hello everyone!! Yes this is my week to test, only 3 more days! I have just finsihed taking the last comprehensive exam in the Hollier book and have scored above the pass mark. Some just squeaking by, some better (meaning breathing room). Now I have one more to complete in the Brown book tomorrow. I am hoping that all the test preparations will do me well on Friday!! I will let everyone know how I did (good or bad) and if I can be of any help to anyone please email me!!! Thanks for the prayers...I keep telling myself that "I will PASS!!"
Congrats to those of you who recently passed the FNP Cert Exams whether it be AANP or ANCC. Talk about a weight off your shoulders when you are done. I passed in July and still can't get over the fact I don't have to study any more for anything.
I recently started working as an NP (one month ago) and it is quite the transition. I am seeing a full load of patients of all different age groups, chronic care, follow ups, peds, urgent care in a very busy family practice. I am still a little nervous and overwhelmed but slowly learning how to handle patients and diagnoses.
Deannarex- Good luck on the exam!! I will be praying for you and sending you positive thoughts!
dojo2- congrats on your new job! I am sure that you feel nervous and overwhelmed. It's all so new! I am doing another semester as a clinical instructor this fall. It's a familiar area to me and the school is really short handed. It gives me time to keep looking for an NP job.
Just wanted to make a comment about the AANP exam. I took the test on a Sunday and got an immediate preliminary "pass" result, was able to print out my wallet card by Wednesday and received the "official" letter in the mail this past Tuesday - 9 days after my test date. I thought that was a pretty quick turnaround. I am an "old school" RN - when I took the 2-day, pencil-and-paper NCLEX in June of 1991, I didn't receive my results until Labor Day weekend. How times have changed! :vlin:
Is the turnaround time for the ANCC exam the same? Just curious...
Hi FNP Grad:
How are you? I enjoyed reading your posts on this site, and your blog. I am thrilled to read that you graduated from your FNP program this year, and recently passed your exam. Reading your resume, I imagine that you will be highly sought after and very compensated for your services.
I also graduated from a FNP program this past May. In my case, it was a program from Upstate NY. You are correct, NY and California are the only states that do not require passage of an exam to be licensed. As a result, I am fully licensed to practice as a NP in NY. However, I understand as of October 2009, Medicare requires Board Certification of NPs for reimbursment. I am in the process of reviewing and studying for my ANCC exam that expect to take within a month.
I live in Upstate, New York, but visited Yale and Conn., while traveling to my biannual summer vacation to Cape Cod. Very impressive area. I hope to hear from you.
Either way, I appreciate the tips related to the exam and your blog.

HELLOOOO everyone!!! I am HAPPY to report that I had seen the "Congratulations you have successfully PASSED" !! I want to THANK YOU all for your words of wisdom and encouragement:yeah:!! The funniest part is once it was over, it took 12 minutes of calling my family to get someone on the phone to tell...it was my soon to be manager that was the first to hear. No one would answer their phone.....
FNP grad: congratulations on your position. That is really exciting!!
I will be happy to help anyone that is soon taking their boards if I can!! I will say this much...keep telling yourself that you WILL pass, and every 40 questions that you do during the practice exams, stop take a few deep breaths and tell yourself that you will PASS!!! I will keep sending encouraging messages and checking in as you are all a great group!!
