Fmc san diego acutes - hard times

Published

FMC acute HD nurses, let's act now and stop all this mess that FMC is making by twisting our benefits, salaries, cutting our hours, and not adjusting the pay to the cost of living.

Got a patient? Lucky you. Tomorrow you will start a tx and another nurse will finish it. Like it? They are bringing 10 new nurses from abroad. We have to oppose them!

1. 10 more nurses are coming from Booth and 3 more from Drury.

2. A few nurses came to US on tourist visas and got working visas from Fmc. Now they are getting $16/hr. We know the names, but won't post them to avoid embarrassment for our colleagues.

I've been with Fmc for years and I don't deserve this abuse. Plus Booth came aboard of who I've never heard good things from Davita people. They say she has always lied to them. She kept it secret for a long time that davita had lost scripps, however hd nurses learned about that from icu nurses in la jolla. Now this beast is in fmc. What do you expect from her?

First of all onekidney nurse, the majority of nurses in fmc do have complaints. Second of all, no one should have to "start walking", if they are happy with hemodialysis, the specialty they have chosen, just because of injustices within the company. Since you have nothing to do with this company in this particular region and have no idea what is going in the company here, you should really butt out!:nurse:

I've worked for Fresenius in the trenches from Maine to California. I know what's going on. Been there done that. Got the T-shirt to prove it AAMOF. All I'm saying is you are wasting your time. There are other HD companies in San Diego. You don't have to work for FMC. As for butting out, this is a public forum and the last I knew you don't own it. Again, do you really think a union is gonna go to bat for 130 nurses. They want the big groups. And talk about BIG BUSINESS. And GREED. Unions are big business. Look at the financial pages of the California Nurses Association. How long will you pay dues before you get anything. Also, I'd dot every T and cross every I if I were you cuz nursing licenses can be lost. I hear the Cali BON is getting real tough on "bad nurses" I'd hate to have to defend myself against FMC. You're right they are big and I'll tell you in this instance MIGHT Makes RIGHT. That could be why you aren't getting much response here. No one wants the hassle........... Go to Davita............ If you think they are better LOL

The why??? is all about "Big Business!" THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR! It used to be many years ago, in the old days that people were appreciated for their loyalty and longevity with a company; and even rewarded for such consistency and dedication. Now, "Big Business" is all about the money, and we are only numbers. There is no longer the appreciation for loyalty and longevity, no bonuses for this, no anything. Nurses that have been with FMC Acutes for years are paid about the same as anyone else. They don't get bonuses for being a long term employee, or an employee that doesn't call off much, or an employee that helps out when they are desperate. Nope, it's just about how much money can go in the company's pocket. Nurses are a dime a dozen, as the company has proven. Put your coin in the machine~ Out pops a Dialysis Nurse, ready and willing to go into the trenches.

For goodness sakes, they don't even have pensions for nurses, and yet their profit margins are bigger than they have ever been! It makes one think, "is that really a company a professional nurse wants to work for?" Think long and hard on that one, because selling your soul to the devil as we have seen, is no picnic.

Who has a pension anymore in any business? Besides it's the government that does't reimburse enough for a treatment.

Once again onekidneynurse, there is no Davita to go to anymore, their nurses are with FMC and lost their contracts. There are no other ACUTE dialysis companies to go with here, but like I said you don't even know whats going on here, so you should save yourself from embarassment and stop posting about things that are happening that you have no clue. We are dialysis nurses with decades of experience and have heard it all as well. But this is VERY different, and with it 2010 and the new econmomic conditions new problems have arisen, but thats right...you are the expert, lol.

And when the bundle goes into effect times will be tighter. AT $125 a treatment INCLUSIVE of meds these units will tighten their belts even more. You could be out of a job tomorrow and if there truely aren't any other acute units to go to I'd suggest you look into another field of nursing. Again I don't need to go to the sun to know it's hot there. I've been in HD since 1987 I believe I do know something about it.

I'm not embrassed to help other nurses. I'm telling you right now that you won't get a union in a FMC unit. It's a waste of time. And your license could all of a sudden be in question. Can you afford to lose your license over this. You may have a bad situation where you are but at least you still have a license.

Why do you keep talking about licenses?

What are the bundles about?

Why do you keep talking about licenses?

Make some noise and see. You'll be answering questions from the Cali BON........ You don't think someone will "report" your incomptence? You don't think that suddenly a patient will complain about you. How much more plain do I have to be? Retaliation. And don't even tell me the union will protect you then. They won't be able to.

I guess if the most experienced nurses left FMC acutes, and went to the other units like Renal Care Group, Davita, and I'm not sure what else is out there. Just by virtue of them leaving alone, and some of the less experienced staff...or the threat thereof. I imagine, that they might want to make some changes to keep the staff. Without the staff, I can assure you those contracts that FMC got from Davita will be MOOT!

What are the bundles about?

Oh wait I thought you knew it all. All about the money driven big business of HD? Ever hear of CMS? Who do you think pays for HD? The tooth fairy?

Wow, that could be a scary proposition for FMC! A mass exodus! Who would cover all those patients! Not a pretty picture for a company that thinks they are all that. In one fell swoop, they could be history! It would serve them right. There are companies waiting in line to replace them, you can be sure of that.
