FMC acute HD nurses, let's act now and stop all this mess that FMC is making by twisting our benefits, salaries, cutting our hours, and not adjusting the pay to the cost of living.
Got a patient? Lucky you. Tomorrow you will start a tx and another nurse will finish it. Like it? They are bringing 10 new nurses from abroad. We have to oppose them!

I don't understand why they continue to bring so many people from abroad, when there are so many people that are here in the states that need jobs. Exploitation??? Take people out of their natural environment, make them dependant, vulnerable, desperate, and needy, and you have the perfect employee.
They threatened them so that poor new philipino colleagues clock out after 10 hrs 30 min of work with 2 cases and still bleach their machines in staff. Perfect employees.

Its very plain to see, they use them to undercut how much they spend on us "expensive" nurses. (Of course, we're also the ones with the experience). It a straight forward way to undermine labor (YOU KNOW, YOU AND ME!). But also, they are taking nurses out of 3rd world nations who need nurse even more than we do. That's why we need to solicit a union to come in and bargain for us. They don't want a union (has anyone else seen the anti-union video that FMC spent money on to produce?) Shows you where their priorities are, huh? They'd rather spend the money to produce and distribute a propaganda video than give any more money to their nurses.
UNION YES!
it speaks volumes of the abuses in nursing in general. that is why unions had to step in, and that is why you will need a good union to represent fmc acute nurses. or, you will never have a voice. they (fmc) will continue to do what they can to undermine staff with experience, and exploit those that don't have experience. all they have to do is get a nurse from abroad~ to replace people that whine and complain about the injustices. promising them visa's and jobs, and a place in the good old u s of a. it is easy to manipulate a person that doesn't understand things so well ~the way things are done in the good old u s of a. you all need a voice!!!
it is imperative that you get good representation. people shouldn't be afraid to stand up for themselves and what is right. i'd rather go down with a good fight for the right thing, than to be subjected to the abuses of big business, and that is exactly what fmc is, "big business."
definition of undermine:
- to injure or destroy by insidious activity or imperceptible stages, sometimes tending toward a sudden dramatic effect.
- to attack by indirect, secret, or underhanded means; attempt to subvert by stealth.
- to weaken or cause to collapse
falsification of records is a crime: "they threatened them so that poor new pilipino colleagues clock out after 10 hrs 30 min of work with 2 cases and still bleach their machines in staff. perfect employees" clocking out, and continuing to work is "falsification of records." if anyone punches out when they still have work to complete, you are breaking the law!!!
how will fmc know you still need time to complete tasks if you falsify the time you took to complete part tasks and did the other part on your own time? how will they manage to realize the exact amount of time it takes a person to complete a 3 1/2 hour treatment from start to finish; preparing and breaking down the equipment, if you clock out before the task is complete?????? foolish, foolish, foolish! they fmc doesn't charge medicare any less for the treatments!!! also, how will they know to take into account a patient that has to go for an x-ray or procedure, and in spite of that you finish within their allotted time dream!
remember: you are the professional, you must represent yourselves with accurate time sheets, and not be afraid, because it is against the law to falsify records to make big business happy. with this ongoing behavior, we will never truly know how accurate time studies will ever be, because of this nonsense. get representation! let them fight for your rights.

fresenius medical care is the largest dialyzer in the world. a union will never happen. never.
It can start with one, and as many as want it. It doesn't have to be the entire United States, just the ones that commit to puruit of happiness. San Diego can do it for their entire area, or just a department.
I don't see many people on here discussing the issue, so if you want change you have to step up and take action. Or quit complaining. Let Big Business control your lives, and dig yourselves deeper into dependence, and exploitation. They love that. You are eating right out of their hand. Big Business Loves that!

Gracious, Im a former 3rd world nurse. I think Im a wonderful educated nurse. The level 1 trauma centre that I worked in in texas thought I was pretty good. I may move to San Diego. I hope I wont be looked at like Im stupid or less than the American Nurses because I am just as good.
No, you miss the point. FMC is making a big huge push in bringing over foreign born nurses, and taking away hours and pay changing benefits, ect...now that they are able to find some people that are desperate to come to america, you understand that foreign nurses can be vulnerable to exploitation, and also, having less experience in a specialized field makes them doubly vulnerable. It isn't saying a foreign born nurse is not as good or smart, it's the exploitation of the individual, the taking hours away from staff because a company won't pay a nurse what they are worth in straight time, so they rely on overtime...and now that will be taking away.
