is anyone getting the new flu shot this year. its a combined seasonal flu plus H1N1 flu shot. some people arent getting it cause the H1N1 flu shot was kinda rush. im on the fence about it. I'm starting NS in a week and a half. how important is it to have a flu shot since we do spend a lot of time in the hospital?
'cause I met a lady last winter... she said she had flue like symptoms for like 2 weeks after the H1N1 shot, and her arm kept hurting for a couple months... at times it felt a bit numbI realize that the majority of people are okay, but it still kinda creeps me out
Give me the painful, numb arm any day.
oh course crunchymama there are a few ways to be excluded from the rules and not get the vaccine. If its against someones religion of course they are not going to press that person. But at the same time then the hospital should have the right to say well then you cant come here for your clinicals. The hospitals are trying to protect there patients.
I got the H1N1 vaccine after there was an outbreak in my office. I didn't have any side effects. I've gotten various flu shots a few times. I've never had any side effects and I've never gotten the flu, so it has worked well for me.
Now, tetorifice shots, on the other hand... ouch! My arm was sore for like a week after my last Dtap.

No matter what, my health is more important then a patients. So therefore, I don't think it's right for anyone to be forced to inject toxins into their bodies. If a patient wants to get a flu shot while in the hospital, then they should have that choice AND so should anyone that works there.

Yes, if you work there you have a choice to decline the shot. But what's being said to you is that the hospital/employer or clinical site also has rights. They have the right to boot you. Which is something you need to fully understand when you decline. This is not an "right" you have as an American citizen...when you work for a company things change. Like it or not. You call can launch into the fight over why private companies can do certain things and how that's not right and it "violates your RIGHTS!!!" Just remember that companies have rights too. And when it comes to protecting their patients I'm pretty sure most people are going to come down on the side of that policy.
I'm sure there are facilities where you don't need the flu shot, or who don't care all that much about it. But I can't imagine there are many, especially with the potential complications of an immune comprimised patient contracting the flu.

Pardon my stupid question:o, but which religions prohibit vaccines?
