So... I didn't get the flu shot for 2016 and it's a requirement for nursing school which starts this august. Will that be a problem? I'm freaking out because no one is answering the phone in my school's nursing department >.
i have no problem getting the flu shot. I don't know why I didn't get it last year......

Every program that I'm familiar with requires the current vaccination during flu season. As the 2016-2017 flu season has ended, there shouldn't be any reason to get that vaccine now.
If you get the 2017-2018 vaccine when it becomes available you should be fine.
Why?
@chare thank you! I was worried they will not allow me to start unless I get it. But clinicals don't start until September so hopefully I'll be fine. Thank you again!

Because the school requires it. Mine won't let me in without having had it in the past calendar year. It's just not something I'd risk. *shrug*
I'm sorry, I just looked up the info and I misspoke. My school requires it, but if you haven't had it done, they'll give you one.
oops I bradyed again

This was my experience too!
lol it's totally my fault for not getting the flu shot last year. It says on the immunization docs that I have to submit, for the influenza part [within 1 year]. I'm just scared they wouldn't let me in the program if I didn't have it the past year

2016-2017 Flu season is over. You can't get a current vaccine for influenza in July. There are no vaccines available that are not expired by now (6/30/17 exp). Can't do what is impossible, right? As soon as the new season's vaccines come out, get one! Problem solved.

It will be a problem. Hospitals force flu shots; they cannot come right out and say it but you either will not be hired, be fired, be forced to wear a mask all year etc...

You can get a flu shot at local pharmacies. Take any insurance info you have. Tell the flu shot provider you need proof of immunization. When you are asked about this preventive measure at school, show them your documentation.
