Ok - who are you, what do you do, where abouts in Florida do you live (or if you are not in Floirda, what part of Florida do you want to move too), what is your clinical area, you status (CNA, LPN, RN, Student, Whatever) and anything else you might want to add.
Some of you already know me, I lived in Florida for a little over 20 years. An RN, I worked and lived in Sarasota. Went to nursing school at Manatee Community College and also University of South Florida at Sarasota. Great place .... love the beaches and the area is truly a wonderful place. I generally work surgical recovery and while in Florida, I worked in post open heart step down and also worked as a nurse manager.
I am a single dad raising three children (all are now teenagers - whew is this rough!). They are really great kids and I am a very luck father to have them.
Next ...... :chuckle
Hi Everyone,
I love reading the threads about life and working conditions in Florida. Maybe anyone of you can help me find hospitasl anywhere in Florida that accepts direct hire. I have a total of 14 years nursing experience in Medical-Surgical, Accident and Emergency, Geriatrics and Learning Disability. I am a foreign nurse from Philippines, been able to work as a Staff Nurse in KSA for 6 1/2 years and presently working as staff nurse in Dublin, Ireland for over 5 years now. I just recently passed the NCLEX-RN Exam for Florida Board of Nursing and already had a valid Visascreen Certificate. Please, I hope anyone of you can help me find a direct hire hospital who's willing to petition me so that I can get my SSN then my permanent license, most importantly initiate the immigration process for my immigrant visa. Your help and input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and God Bless Us All!
I had my BSN in the Philippines. I'm a pretty new nurse, less than 2yrs. I work at Shands Jacksonville as a progressive/tele nurse. I have worked as a patient care tech for >6 yrs on a tele floor while I worked to get my RN license.
I want to take this career to the next level, want to have ICU experience. At Shands we have a Critical Care Fellowship program to prepare nurses to go to ICU setting and I will definitely go for this.

i live in south florida and attend bcc. i am 25, married with two cats- no kids yet!!!
just checking out the site and hoping to meet other students down here in south florida- i need some nursing friends, since i have basically fell off the face of the earth to most normal people that are not in school. :)
I am currently living in Minnesota. I plan on moving to the Orlando area. I have a son who lives in Orlando, and he just loves it.
However, I am a little frightened of the move. I hear there aren't many good jobs for LPNs. I have been working on my RN, through Excelsior college. I plan of finishing the program after the move. I should be able to complete it in six more months.
Does anyone have any advise for an LPN moving into the area?

I would NOT recommend any of the HCA hospitals, and there are many in the Tampa Bay area. Most of the travelers in my hospital were very unhappy and could hardly wait for their contract to end.
