  1. I am thinking about doing the same thing. I currently work for a small, level II community hospital where we do 150 deliveries per month. I am thinking about moving to a larger, level III hospital in the area where they do 300+ deliveries per month. A little nervous of the transition to the bigger hospital with the sicker patients. But also afraid if I don't make the switch now, I never will want to.
  2. Congrats and best of luck to you MyBSNin06!!! How exciting...I can't wait to be in your position!!! Eric, thanks for your advice! The hospital that I am at does offer an internship/training/mentorship program for 12 weeks for new hires/new grads.
  3. Hi there...I gradutate in December from school and am currently doing my preceptorship in a Level II NICU at a local hospital. I absolutely love it and cannot imagine going anywhere else. However, as experienced nurses, what are your thoughts on new grads in the NICU? I know everyone has a different opinion and different advice on where we should start, but is there really anything that can prepare you to care for these little guys? Thanks!
  4. Hey guys...My name is Christine and I am graduating in december from Palm Beach Community College to be an RN. I plan on working at Boca Community in their NICU...this is where I am doing my preceptorship currently. I live in Boca...am a single mom of three wonderful boys...my oldest will be a teenager on Friday...OH MY!!!
  5. I know you guys are talking about BSN programs...but PBCC has an awesome RN program with no waiting list. You either get in or you don't. A good friend of mine is going to Nova right now, and I am graduating from PBCC in Dec. :yelclap:, we compare notes all the time and the two programs are pretty dead on when it comes to "nursing" classes, paperwork, clinical experience, etc. I can vouch for the fact that PBCC's staff is wonderful too! Just a little blurb. However, if you all go to FAU, I will be starting the RN-BSN program in August, so maybe we will see each other there! Good luck on your education path...stick with it...it will be worth the debt in the end!
  6. Actually...Boca is not that bad of a place to work at...every hospital has its issues with management, miserable employees, underpaid nurses, etc...it's all what you make of it. And the clients at BRCH are really not as demanding as you would expect...
