Florida Hospital Graduate Nurse Program - September/October Start Date

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi! Is anyone else a new grad applying for the September/October start date for FL Hospital's GN program? I graduated earlier in July and now I'm just waiting until they open the application so I can go ahead and apply.

Has anyone heard how many new grads they usually hire in ICU? That's the area I'm really hoping to get an interview in.

I just interviewed on an Oncology PCU and next week I have an interview set up for surgical transplant PCU. I don't know how the one I just went to went. I was very nervous.

So...I got a call from FH Waterman. I forgot that I applied to a posting on Indeed and thought it was the main FH campus calling. The Waterman campus wants a 3.0 GPA and is in Tavares. The recruiter said it would start October 19th and said she would forward my application on to Deland and Fish Memorial. Not my choices at all but if I'll take it if I can get it.

This the link to the job posting. The recruiter's name and email is at the bottom. I know it says expired but they haven't filled their spots yet so it's worth it to email her a copy of you resume. I got a screening email from Halifax Health and waiting to hear back from them. Anyone know anything about them??

I applied there but my overall GPA is just below a 3.0 (my nursing program GPA is above a 3.0) so they told me they wouldn't take me. In any case, I did not get the interview I went on the other day but I'm hopeful about the one I have coming up this week. And I take the NCLEX on Tuesday so I think it will be a good week!

Deland's Florida Hospital called me to talk to me about their GN program and if called to interview and I still don't have a job I will go to the interview. Ugh. So frustrating!

Has anyone gotten good news?? I got a call back on Thursday from FH! Like, the real one and not Waterman or one of the satellite campuses. The recruiter told me that I would have to do references and she would forward my application to all the campuses. I told her I'm fine with any floor and any campus since I'll be moving from Jax anyway so that part doesn't really matter.

Anyone have tips for me?

Blue- have you heard back on any interviews? I have a friend that went through the whole process pretty quickly and others that are still waiting.

Hi nursebrii!

I did hear back about an interview! I have a phone interview scheduled next Wednesday for Neurology ICU. Any tips?

I have only had friends interview with Oncology Med/Tele....they had behavioral type interview questions. From what I read on the other boards, some ICU or ED interviews were more clinical skills specific...i.e. patient scenarios, etc. I have an interview this week, crossing my fingers!! Also, I was curious-- what range was your GPA...if you don't mind me asking? The reason I ask is I have a friend that has completed the pre-screening assessment but the jobpage just consistently says "under initial review"....she has not received any phone calls from recruiters. I know that you waited a long time between when you initially applied and when you heard from a recruiter...just trying to shed some light onto why she hasn't been contacted and if she may actually still have a chance...I'm trying to convince her she does!!

My GPA was a 2.93 but they didn't ask about it at all. The recruiter asked me if I was BLS certified and asked if I had my ACLS, which I do. Did she apply for the September/October or October/December? From my understanding the recruiter said they were running behind on applications. As long as it still says under initial review then she is okay. If it says that after the screening assessment then she passed it. Did she put down location/unit preferences? I was open to anything and everywhere but when the recruiter calls you they go over your preferences. If she has preferences it might be better to select no preferences on her application and then discuss with the recruiter.

Okay, great! She applied for Sept/Oct. I believe she selected specific hospitals so I will tell her to update her app accordingly! Thank you so much for your help & good luck next week, you're going to rock it!

Thanks! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your friend! Where is she hoping to go to? And where is your interview at? Is it with FH?
