Florida Hospital Graduate Nurse Program - September/October Start Date

Published

Hi! Is anyone else a new grad applying for the September/October start date for FL Hospital's GN program? I graduated earlier in July and now I'm just waiting until they open the application so I can go ahead and apply.

Has anyone heard how many new grads they usually hire in ICU? That's the area I'm really hoping to get an interview in.

Interview on Tuesday. I'm hoping it goes well. Super nervous! I just had an interview with a smaller hospital outside Orlando and it went well, they emailed me today saying they want to talk to me on Monday.

That is awesome! So you may have two offers by next week! How exciting! :)

Congrats blue1015! It's seriously the best feeling ever knowing that you're DONE studying and officially a Registered Nurse! And good luck allerina with your interviews and taking boards! I just wonder if Florida Hospital is starting to open up more spots on other units or if they just aren't telling everyone that they've already filled up all of their GN positions... I just absolutely hate their process. So sketchy and unfair to those who are just waiting for weeks to hear ANYTHING!

I'm wondering the same thing myself. I saw a posting for FH in Tavares. No idea where that is but I put in for it too. I'm wondering if they just want to have a bunch of resumes on file and they don't actually need nurses. I wish they would say one way of the other! It's never wracking and depressing to wait around to hear something.

Hello all! I accepted a GN position for Florida Hospital South and will be relocating early October...if anyone would like to room, please message me (females only :D).

Hi IHeartNursing321! Can you give us any pointers on interviews, how long it took to get a callback, or anything like that?

Of course! I had 2 in-person interviews. I interviewed with HR first and then went to the units to interview with the management and education team for both interviews. I was asked typical behavioral questions, not too difficult. I just looked online for common nursing interview questions. I did not get the first position I interviewed for (I found out by checking my FH account, it said "No Longer Under Consideration" the next day). I then interviewed a few days later for another position and was offered the job by the end of the day via a phone call from HR. HR then sent me an email to accept or decline and I had 24 hrs to make a decision.

When did you apply and how long did it take someone to contact you and schedule an interview? I applied on August 2 and completed the behavioral assessment already. I've only gotten automated emails for the past 3 weeks saying I'm still being considered. Did you go through the same thing or am I reading too much into it?

I applied the first week of August as well...received the behavioral assessment a week later. A week-ish after submitting the assessment, HR called me and told me that they would need 4 references from me and emailed me a reference list to submit. A day after receiving the reference list email, I started getting calls for interviews..so a little less than 2 weeks until I got calls for interviews. I do have my BSN and ACLS certification. You are still in the game though, so don't sweat it! My friend applied shortly after me and she still hasn't heard anything.

I just finished my ACLS certification today. I updated my application with so hopefully that helps me out. I only have an ADN. :( Maybe that's why they haven't called. Did you apply for the GN or EDNIP?

Oh awesome, congrats! I think that will help. I only applied for the GN position.

Did you have your license when you applied or just fast results? I passed my NCLEX but not sure when I'll have my official license in the mail. I didn't want it to be a problem if/when I interview.
