Florida Hospital Graduate Nurse Program July/August 2015

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am going to be graduating with my ADN in May and am planning to relocate back to Central Florida from Southeast Missouri (I moved here in 2007 with family and I'm very much looking forward to this move!). I applied for the July/August 2015 Graduate Nurse Program and selected my preferential locations as Orlando and Altamonte in PCU, Med/Surg Tele, and ED. I am hoping to move as soon as possible after graduation, dependent on getting a job. I am a single mother to a one year old and cannot go if we don't have a stable situation yet.

I guess what I'm wondering is:

What are my chances?

What advice do you have for me?

Did anyone have a similar situation and get hired on?

My application was submitted yesterday evening and this morning it said "Under Initial Review". I am 22 and have had 4+ years experience in Nursing as a CNA, the last year being spent with a Community Health Systems Hospital. I mentioned that I would immediately be pursuing my BSN this summer and also that my mom worked there as an RN before we moved and how she had many good things to say about FH.

Thanks in advance! I am banking on getting this opportunity and am not sure where I will go work wise if I don't get a position with FH. Haven't heard many good things with Orlando Health?

hello everyone!

good luck to all of you.

I have applied as well just last week.

I was wondering if anyone got an idea as to how much a RN would get paid/diff?

*I am out of state as well and I just wanted a realistic idea since you guys have

been contacted. thanks :)

@movingon12 the starting is 22.09 for ADN I believe and 22.75 for BSN and then differential for evenings, weekend and holidays but those don't kick in until after orientation is over.

thanks!! Do you work in the Florida Hospital system?

@movingon12 no that's what they told me when I went on the interview.

Does anyone know what the shift differentials are?

13% nights 15% weekends during orientation. 35% nights and 15% weekends after orientation.

Has anyone been accepted? If so where? Do you have any advice on places to live in Orlando?

I have a couple of phone interviews for PCU and tele next week based off this one application for new grads. The ones I got are:

-Altamonte

-kissimmee

-Apopka

I also have the same question as you.

Does anyone recommend any apartments/areas to live in?

I was accepted into Orlando. As of right now, I just plan on getting an apartment downtown and calling it a day.

Thanks everyone for all the comments and advice! I was not chosen for an interview, unfortunately. Trying not to be discouraged. I am going to continue to apply and hope for the best. I will be starting my BSN June 8th and I'm hoping that will help my situation some as well as a trip down. I applied at Central Florida Regional in Sanford and I'm going to also apply in Tampa although Sanford/Orlando area is where I'm from originally and what would be ideal. Thank you again for all the help! Good luck to everyone!

Don't get discouraged! another door will open ;) I am finishing my BSN this December..I am sure many opportunities will come my way...best of luck! God bless :)

Specializes in ICU.

I am considering accepting an ICU new grad position at Florida Hospital Celebration. Is anyone else considering the Celebration location?
