  1. I created my own resume and I send a cover letter as well. I had two interviews/shadow and got denied both times. I have a third interview/shadow experience coming up and I just wanted some tips. Thank you
  2. Hello! I am a new grad and trying to get into YNHH. I was wondering if there is anything specific that you may recommend to do or say. I have gone to shadow and interview before but was denied for a position.

  4. It's way to early to start applying now. You should start 2 months before graduation or December for those who hire new grads for February. Milford hospital is a nice small community hospital The YNHH system may be harder to get into but anything is possible when applying í ½í¸‰ those hospitals include -Bridgeport hospital -greenwhich hospital -Yale New Haven -st Raphael -soon L&M I know my friend got hired at St Vincents Medical Center as a new grad and she said they have a 3 months orientation and weekly classes for new grads. She says they hire new grads in waves in February, August, October Stamford hospital does the same by hiring new grads in feb, aug, October in their 3 month new grad program as well
  5. Don't feel bad. HouTx is right! You are doing great. If anything apply for part-time positions within that facility or another facility. Perhaps having a stable set of hours/schedule will be better for you but until then keep your PRN position if you are able to manage.
  6. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have no family of my own lol This facility that just called is a general medical unit so it's a different unit. It's literally down the street from me. The pros would be that it's much closer, specially during bad weather. This is the facility i want to work at since I graduated. Plus they have a nurse residency program for new grads that is a year long. The opportunities to grow and learn I know is much better here. Again, it's just an interview that I have this coming week. They may not even offer it to me but I want to give it a shot.
  7. Hello Everyone, I recently accepted a full time position (40 hours) at a hospital ~35 min from where I reside. Its a day/eve position and flexible as long as the 40 hrs are completed (12 hr/ 8hr/ 4 hr shifts ) along with every other weekend and holiday . Currently I am just starting and I am on orientation. My plan is to stay here a year to get experience and then move on to another unit or facility. Recently, I have been called by a larger top hospital in the state to interview for a part-time 24 hour position this coming week. This facility is more advanced technology wise and is less than 10 minutes away from where I live. I know its just an interview and I might not even get selected for the position but I am very excited and hopeful for this opportunity. It is three 8 hours shifts (day or eve), every other weekend and holiday. I was wondering if I were to get an offer if it would be okay to work both jobs?? Advise from those that have or are working 2 jobs as to your experience doing this?
  8. Update: I emailed the person back and never got a response but i had to give it a try
  9. Hello! I am a new grad seeking employment. About 2 months ago I had a interview at a hospital. A nurse recruiter contacted me, had a phone interview, and next I was given an in person interview with HR then the unit manager. At the beginning of last month I was told by email by the nurse recruiter I was not selected. Should I contact/email the nurse recruiter back saying how I am a qualified candidate for any other position ??? or just not bother her. I have filled out many online applications about 1-2 weeks ago at that facility now that I have passed my boards mid June. -I have applied to other hospitals and some 50 min away but this is the closest I have gotten to meeting nurse managers/ HR in person.
  10. I have a couple of phone interviews for PCU and tele next week based off this one application for new grads. The ones I got are: -Altamonte -kissimmee -Apopka I also have the same question as you. Does anyone recommend any apartments/areas to live in?
  11. thanks!! Do you work in the Florida Hospital system?
  12. hello everyone! good luck to all of you. I have applied as well just last week. I was wondering if anyone got an idea as to how much a RN would get paid/diff? *I am out of state as well and I just wanted a realistic idea since you guys have been contacted. thanks :)
  13. Hello everyone! I was just wondering how much do you earn as a CNA working in a nursing home? I want to start applying and work until I finish nursing school but I want to know what I should expect/ask for when I get asked. I found a position for 11.50. Is this reasonable? Should I keep searching? Personally I think its okay but I don't know what I should be looking for.... THANK YOU
  14. Congrats! I have also been accepted :)
  15. Hello, I am applying to the nursing BSN program at SCSU too. I got the same GPA and TEAS test score as you. I think we have a good chance because one of the adviser's said that the averages for last year were 75% for the TEAS test and a 3.4 GPA. I took the TEAS test this week and it said the program average is 70.6%. There is still hope lol
