FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN

Published

Hey guys! Is anyone here applying for the Generic BSN program for Fall 2016? I couldn't find any topics for it.

I'm in the process of applying right now and I just took the TEAS V today! I'm content with my score, but I may retake it. I hope that with my TEAS V score, my GPA, and my extracurricular activities combined that have a good chance of getting accepted into the program!

My stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

GPA: 3.96

TEAS V Cumulative score: 79.3% :(

Reading portion: 83.3% unfortunately I ran out time on this one and had to blindly guess on two questions!

Math portion: 66.7% such a bad score for me! I had to guess on like 5 questions because I wasn't keeping track of time!

Science: 81.3% I'm so relieved with this score. I was so scared that I wouldn't pass the 62% mark. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

English and Grammar: 83.3 % It was an okay section, a couple of tricky questions. I had like 3 questions on how a word is spelled correctly and those get confusing when two of them look like the right answer!

I would love to hear from anyone else who is also applying for the Fall 2016!

I am really hoping that it will be a good experience, we are going to be there for a while lol ...

I didn't receive the updated list. Looking forward meeting you ...

I'm at the VA on Fridays too. I'm out of the loop, but can imagine some of the issues with the resources needed to provide care for all veterans, PTSD, and other serious disabilities, etc. My interaction with babies usually ends up with them screaming and me putting my hands up and slowly backing away, so no newborns is a plus for me. One plus to consider is that the VA has a scholarship that pays for your nursing, I believe gives you a monthly stipend, and guarantees that coveted no prior experience nursing job at a major hospital upon graduation.

Has anyone received the flu shots yet?

I got my flu shot at a minute clinic in a CVS. It was quick and my heath insurance covered the cost of it.

For anyone that got the flu shot already can you please post the address of the Walgreens or cvs you received it at?

Have you guys already bought your textbooks already? If so, around how much did you pay for them and were you able to find them somewhere cheaper than the boookstore? I did the math and I'd be paying almost $900 for almost everything we need and that sounds insane! So please let me know if you guys bought them anywhere else for a cheaper price. Thanks!

I was on campus today to switch the scrubs which I already bought, I took the wrong size. I also rought the pathophysiology book for $176 and placed an order for the health assessment book for$ 133. The foundations package however I think in total will cost about $400-500 if all new so I'm not quite ready to get that yet.

I bought mine on Amazon. Way cheaper. Payed like $75 for assessments brand new with access code. And like $95 for patho and code included. Idk about sherpath. I found it online on the actual site. It was $200 but idk if that's the one we need. I think I'm going to buy it at the bookstore.

Anyone know exactly which days we have to wear our scrubs and which days we don't?

Hey everyone. Just to let you all know the book store matches with Amazon! So the patho book instead of being 176 will come out to 106. Just let them know and they will price match it. If you've already bought it you can just return it and then buy it again on the spot. Will save you some money! And we only wear scrubs on days we have lab or in the star center and in clinicals.
