Hey guys! Is anyone here applying for the Generic BSN program for Fall 2016? I couldn't find any topics for it.
I'm in the process of applying right now and I just took the TEAS V today! I'm content with my score, but I may retake it. I hope that with my TEAS V score, my GPA, and my extracurricular activities combined that have a good chance of getting accepted into the program!
My stats are:
Science GPA: 4.0
GPA: 3.96
TEAS V Cumulative score: 79.3%
Reading portion: 83.3% unfortunately I ran out time on this one and had to blindly guess on two questions!
Math portion: 66.7% such a bad score for me! I had to guess on like 5 questions because I wasn't keeping track of time!
Science: 81.3% I'm so relieved with this score. I was so scared that I wouldn't pass the 62% mark. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!
English and Grammar: 83.3 % It was an okay section, a couple of tricky questions. I had like 3 questions on how a word is spelled correctly and those get confusing when two of them look like the right answer!
I would love to hear from anyone else who is also applying for the Fall 2016!
@13thExpansion
I don't know which edition it is. The website doesn't say and I don't want to open the package to see which it it because I might return the book. The book has a white cover and just say Fundamentals of nursing in black.
I see the 8th Edition on Amazon but they also have a 9th Edition which was published in March 2016.
It could most likely be the 9th Edition.
I returned the patho book today as well. Thanks to @Samarasaca for mentioning price math, I'm able to save so much. FIU's bookstore is way too expensive.@13th ExpansionDid you get them with the codes? I cannot find the fundamentals book nowhere. I checked on chegg but is not the same edition. The isbn that I have is 9780323506410.
I've always rented all of my books, never bought any books. Now I don't know if the professor will use the codes. The codes are more expensive when bought seperately.
I went to the bookstore today, I return the Patho. They price match amazon on the Patho, I got it for 106. They also match price dimensional analysis from the genereal barnes and noble website for $89.
@jackymass23 According to the professors the codes are necessary. Those are what we will be using for class for assignments and stuff. The codes are needed for both fundamentals and pathoohysiology. I know its pretty expensive I bought my books yesterday. I would advise you to buy the package from the bookstore for fundamentals because it is cheaper doing it that way compared to trying to buy each item separately. For example the sherpath code by itself is already $200.
I personally bought the hardcopy for all required textbooks I can't use ebooks because I like to highlight and take notes and feel the actual pages lol @13thExpansion The fundamentals book in the bookstore is the 9th edition @len95 Yes, the sherpath code is $200 on the evolve website even if it comes with the ebook you still have another access code that you need to get. The package from the bookstore comes with the ebook, sherpath code and access code for about $315 I believe and the package with the ebook, hardcopy book, sherpath code and access code is about $420 @jackymass23 They price match the health assessment book as well so make sure you ask them to price match it for you on amazon. As for the dimensional analysis book i got mines on ebay for like $60 brand new with the supplemental CD. I was bummed about the schedule too my lab time is 5-9pm. I wish there was a morning lab or something.
@TaneshaYStBriceIf it is the 9th Edition for the fundamentals, it is only 120 on Amazon. The bookstore sales it for 420, it's only the book and the access code. Im definitely returning that book
Do you mind posting the amazon links to the books and the codes? Cause I thought the book at FIU included two codes and the physical book. But I'm checking on amazon and there's a bunch of codes. One for clinical component, elsevier, adaptive quizzing. it's all too confusing.
@jackymass23 @len95 There is 2 different packages in the bookstore for fundamentals. The first package is the e-book, the access code and the sherpath code for like $315. The second package is the physical book, the e-book, the access code and the sherpath code for $420. If you buy the book of amazon you still have to get the sherpath code which is an additional $200 and then the other access code which IDK which one it is or the price. The book in the bookstore comes with 2 different access codes though not 1.
