FIU AO BSN (fall 2020)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!
This site has been very helpful for me while I worked on my application, therefore, I wanted to start a thread on the applicants for FIU’s fall 2020 AO BSN program. It may be a little early right now, but I would love to speak to anyone who has applied or planning to. ?

Hi, so I took the TEAS today and it started off aggravating. It is a proctored exam and I was scheduled to take it at 8:00 am. However, there was no one available to proctor it until almost 9:00 am. Aside from that, I found it very comfortable taking the exam from home. I did have to purchase a camera for my desktop, since I did not have one. It was a pretty easy procedure, aside for the proctor waiting time.

Awesome, thank you! I ended up signing up for it. I'll make sure to leave ample time for any mishaps on that day. Thanks for your feedback.

Hello, I submitted my application today. How do you guys think COVID is going to affect application numbers? I know it was hard to get my letter-head letters for my app so I submitted it today instead of earlier in the month like I wanted to.

Hey. I don’t think COVID will affect the application numbers that much as I have applied to other universities and some have had huge numbers like 800 applications.

I agree. Numbers wise I believe it will stay the same. However, I want to know their grading scale and why they removed the video essay.

Hello all. Did you all have to enroll at FIU prior to submitting your application through NursingCAS? The other schools I applied to didn't require this so I was just a bit baffled. Also, are any of you currently taking pre-reqs? I am just wondering how the transcript thing works out after you've submitted your application, to show that you have finish the course. Do we still submit to NursingCAS or to school? Thank you all!

They go by a point based system so GPA you get points, if you were a veteran you get points, volunteering you get points, etc. As for the video essay I don’t know why they removed it but my guess is probably because it takes up a lot of time.

I feel like that is a bit unfair, but I doubt it has much weight to the overall score.

Yes, I enrolled first then created my NursingCas account. This is the first school that I had to fill out a NursingCas for, but with other schools it was always a requirement to enroll in the University then the nursing application.

And yes! I am re-taking my A&P 1 and 2 pre-reqs currently. All of my other transcripts I sent in are up to date so I sent them in. So when the time comes I will only send over my two pre-req courses at the end of the term. I believe we just send them to the school since the NursingCas will be closed.

Perfect! Thanks for all the information ?

hello, I am a current student at the FIU-AO cohort graduating this December. My email is [email protected] if you have any questions about the program. Good luck to you all !

Hi everyone! I just got into U Miami but I am leaning toward FIU due to cost. My application says it has been “deferred for department review.” I wonder how long it will take to hear back. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you submitted your NCAS application? That doesn’t close until July 15th so I’m assuming at least a month after that until we hear back
