NSU Nova Southeastern ABSN Winter 2021
@Future.Derm.NP Nova does rolling admission, so they accept students as they apply. Do not wait. If you have everything else and just waiting on your last pre-req, you should be fine. You'll just have to do final transcripts when you're done. As far as the Kaplan is concerned, I believe they schedule you after your interview; usually a few days after. You have nothing to lose. You generally hear back pretty quickly from them. Good luck!

@FVC It's OK that you have many questions. We all did! So the facebook group is called "Nova Southeastern Fort Myers ABSN Winter 2021". As far as the supplemental application, I submitted it as soon as I submitted my NursingCAS application. There is a link under "Program Materials" that takes you to the application. In regards to the schedule, I do not know. I know that due to Covid, they broke up classes into smaller groups but I am not sure how many days a week they go. I suspect though that this will be different for us come January as I am sure all these Covid restrictions would be lifted by then.

I do not know anyone in this particular program but I believe you cannot based a program based on someone else's experience. I have a friend who did this program at another school and she hated it. She said she felt the professors were there merely to fail the students and they were not giving the proper tools to excel. Long story short, before she knew it, she had finished the program. Now you ask her about it and she'll tell you it was a good experience. You and I can be on this same program, same school and I can be lazy and feel as though this program is terrible, yet you can be organized and on target with all assignments and fell it is great. We will both have different experiences depending on what we put in.

Hi, I applied back for the fall semester and was admitted last minute so they were kind enough to allow me to defer to January. For me, the process was smooth and fast, but that's because I applied so late. I submitted my supplemental the same day I submitted my application and I heard back from them within 2 weeks for an interview. Their admission is a rolling admission, so they accept students as they apply and not all at once. You have more than enough time since they just starter reviewing applications. As far as the Kaplan goes, it is math, reading, science and writing. The science is really just biology and A&P. There is no Chemistry or physics like the TEAS. I took the TEAS and found the Kaplan easier. Good luck on your application!

@Subcutaneous Congratulations! Anyone accepted to the accelerated program out of Ft Myers, please join our FB group. It'll be nice to share information as we get it.

@tryingmybest1 Yes, you get a BSN when you get done. I believe the pre-reqs are more than the regular BSN and you have to have a Bachelor's degree completed before classes start.

Unfortunately, the only accelerated program at Nova is at the Ft. Myers Campus. Like @Subcutaneous said above, that program is only 4 semesters. Trust me, I wish they had it in Davie so I didn't have to move.

Congratulations! That's very exciting. I'm sure once the admission emails start going out, you'll be on the list. @amsams As far as I know, it's just to make sure you have a basic foundation so they only look at the overall; however, you also don't want to score anything below a 70 on Science and this would show a weakness in a very important subject.

@annamarie_r yes, it was really easy to find and I sent a request @Subcutaneous YAY! See I told you to be patient. I'm so happy for you. Keep us posted.

@annamarie_r Yes! You should create one if you have the time to manage it ? Let us know so we can join. Just make sure you title it with Fort Myers and Winter 2021 in it so it's easy to find.

@FVC search "Transfer Evaluation Services NSU" in Google and it'll bring you over to Nova's website where you can search the course equivalence. You'll have to select the school the credit is from and it'll show if it is the same. My statistics course did not transfer over to Nova (it did for all other programs I applied to) and I had to retake it. As far as GPA, I think that's a good GPA, however they look at your Science GPA as well (when I interviewed, my science GPA was the only thing that was brought up, not my overall). I would highly suggest you attend one of their virtual open houses so you can have all your questions answered. It was very helpful for me.

Hello and congratulations! I do not believe there is a facebook page for 2021 yet. There was one for the Fall 2020.

@amsams I don't remember the questions because I had interviewed with another program the week prior. I can't remember who asked what. However, I do remember that Nova asked me what was my biggest accomplishment. I remember thinking "WOW!, they do want to know about me!" but that is all I remember. Just be honest, be yourself, and you will be fine. As far as the Kaplan goes, I did not study because I was only given like 4 days from interview to the test. I had just taken the TEAS a couple of weeks before that and I had made some notes for the TEAS so I only looked over my notes. I found (and this is just my opinion) that the Kaplan was easier than the TEAS, as it only has English and Bio/Anatomy. The TEAS has Chemistry and physics and so I spent more time studying laws (I.e. ideal gas law, Boyle's law) properties of the periodic table, memorizing physic equations, etc. I have read from other chats that people purchased the Kaplan Nursing handbook and studied from there. Good luck!
