FIU AO BSN (fall 2020)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!
This site has been very helpful for me while I worked on my application, therefore, I wanted to start a thread on the applicants for FIU’s fall 2020 AO BSN program. It may be a little early right now, but I would love to speak to anyone who has applied or planning to. ?

Are you guys and gals submitting any community service hours (if so how many)? I unfortunately don't have any, hope this doesn't hurt my application.

I am submitting volunteer hours from two summers ago at a doctor's office. Volunteer hours are not necessary I have friends who got into FIU's program without it, so don't worry about it.

If we have a full time job do we need submit employment verification? For volunteering we have to submit proof on letter head but I’m not sure if we need the same for our job.

Hey! For the TEAS exam where is everyone going through. I need to schedule mine(:

FIU sent an email a while back about taking a proctored version of the TEAS through Miami Dade College. You have to schedule it through their website.

In case you didn't receive the email, I took a screen shot. See below ?

When did the deadline get moved to July 15th?

Hi everyone!

I actually had no idea the deadline had been extended until I saw this!

Does anyone know how many students they usually accept? Average TEAS? Any other information that can be offered?

I’m so nervous, excited and anxious all at once! ?

there are about 180 applicants and they accept 60, but 30 are minorities/military I believe. So 30 traditional applicants. For the TEAS IDK their average but on the thread from last year a lot of people got in mid 80s. They told me they only look at science and overall score. I wanted to retake mine cause I got a 74 in the first english section and I didn't like that score. my math was 100%, science 97.9% and reading 84%. it made my overall 88.7%. I asked if I should retake it because of my english score and they told me no, that they would only look at the science and overall.

are you guys going to include a lot of other experience in the app? what's your GPAs? TEAS score?

After I take the TEAS exam, does anyone know how long the results will take? So that I can download the individual performance profile and attach it to the NursingCAS application.
I wanna take the TEAS on the 13th July, is this cutting it too close?

Thank you

Hey. You get the scores automatically and you could upload the score the same day to nursingcas because you download the pdf of the Individual Performance Report right after seeing the score. I'm taking mines on the 10th, so your not cutting it short if you have the rest of your application ready.

Good luck on the TEAS.

Hola! I just wanted to peek my head in and say that I am having a HECK of a time getting official letterhead materials. I think the pandemic is really throwing me for a loop so I doubt I will be able to include verifications for some of the opportunities that I wanted to include although they will still be listed on my CV.

Sigh, it's been rough and it's making me slightly bummed.

Can anyone provide any insight on how the proctoring was at MDC? I have a decent TEAS score already, but I'm pushing to take it again and aim higher.

Hi, so I took the TEAS today and it started off aggravating. It is a proctored exam and I was scheduled to take it at 8:00 am. However, there was no one available to proctor it until almost 9:00 am. Aside from that, I found it very comfortable taking the exam from home. I did have to purchase a camera for my desktop, since I did not have one. It was a pretty easy procedure, aside for the proctor waiting time.
