NCLEX-RN results in California....

I recently took the NCLEX-RN in CA and I wanted to know how many days went by before your results arrived in the mail? Was your name posted on the website and did you pass or fail? Thanks.

My name showed up on the board's website two days after taking the NCLEX, and I had my license (the credit card) within the next week. The actual certificate took about three weeks. However, I was an out-of-state grad and therefore had to have my file completed before the board would release me to take NCLEX. I think it takes longer for California grads because they get to take the test before the board gets their final transcripts.

Hi, could you explain this to me? I have a little trouble following what you are saying. I'm interested because I am a Florida graduate who has applied to CA BON for IPN and RN license. I am awaiting to hear word from CA BON. Now, what are you saying? That it will take longer for the CA BON to get back to me because I am out of state graduate? But I have some sort of advantage because California grads take the test before the BON gets their final transcript? I don't follow. Help me understand.

I really appreciate the time you take to clear this up for me.

Thanks

I found out three days after that I had passed via the BRN website...envelope w/ certificate by the following monday...

California grads get cleared for the IPN and to take NCLEX before the Board receives their final transcripts from nursing school, provided that they are on the list to graduate. This is why you hear of all the California graduates waiting weeks to find out results (and why California doesn't participate in quick results). They will not release NCLEX results until they have their final transcripts, and that all depends on when the schools send them out.

Out-of-state graduates must have their file completed with the Board (including the final transcripts from nursing school) before receiving the IPN and the ATT. That's why once they have the ATT and take NCLEX, the Board will release results to the out-of-state grads within a few days. They don't have to wait on the final transcripts - they already have them on file.

Hope this helps make things a bit clearer. In a nutshell, California grads wait forever for their results and out-of-state grads wait forever for the IPN and ATT. Waiting times probably all equal out in the end for everyone.

I found out three days afoter that I had passed via the BRN website...still waiting on my actual envelope of ggodies though.

Mollymil, I read in another post that you called the BRN when you were trying to find out your results....curious to know what they said to you. I took my test Monday 6/25/07 and called the BRN today and they told me that my test results had not come in yet. Whatever that means? What was your experience?

Hmmm...I never had to call the BRN for the test results. I did have to call to find my misdirected IP and Candidate to test packet several times back at the beginning of the year...so I could work and make my appointment to sit the NCLEX. That was an adventure in and of itself...

No, I just went to the BRN site...got my pass/fail status there. As for the results not being to them yet...maybe the test site hasn't transmitted them or maybe your school hasn't sent in all the required info...like transcripts. Or maybe my late response had invalidated all of the above and you do now have your results.

I took my test this last Tuesday and I found out my results on Friday. Pretty good considering the holiday on Wednesday! :)
