Hi guys! Today was my very first day all alone & off orientation. I felt nervous at first, but did fine. :) The LPN & I (we have team nursing on our unit) had 9 patients together & I felt great! Yippee! I even put in a foley catheter-I had only put in one successfully in the past. Now I can put down two on my resume. :) I had to change the morphine cartridges on two PCA pumps too-so I got more practice with that, I did all the IV pushes for our team, did a dressing change, lots of assessments, every 2 hour neuro checks on one patient, meds, an admission, a transfer-Phew! Every time I looked at the clock, another hour was gone! Where did the time go? I'm so happy today went well. And my co-workers were all very nice to me still-they kept asking me how I was doing. I wish every day was as nice as this one!

I'm a student. It's nice to hear a GOOD first day. Usually all I read about are the horror stories. Thanks for the post. It makes me feel less nervous.

Awesome. Just remember this day and realize when you have a bad day, and you will, that there good days happen. :)
