Hi everyone on Allnurses,
I'm a little worried about this issue and hope someone on AN can help me. My first name has a hyphen between the letters but on my driver's license, it is written as one whole word. For example (this is not my real name but am using as an example), the legal name is Mary-Kate, but on DL it's written as MaryKate. On the ATT, the name is registered as Mary-Kate.
I'm worried that PearsonVue won't let me take the exam if my name on the DL is written without a hyphen and not matched my ATT (and legal name). I went to DMV and tried to correct the name on my DL but the customer rep told me that the computer system won't allow a hyphen on the first name (the last name is okay). My Social Security card has the correct name but I don't think it is considered a valid form of identification. I don't have a passport and if I apply for one, it's going to take couple of months for it to get here.
I feel really stressed out because of this issue as my exam is in couple of weeks. If anyone on AN has experienced this or has some advice, I would really appreciate it if you'd share it!

I would contact pearsonvue directly and ask about it. Better to get the word directly from the source, than he said/ she said.

I'd definitely call and explain the situation.

I can't see them having a problem with that. The name is the same, just a hyphen.

I would call, this is too important to not know for sure directly from the source.

I agree, it's worth a phone call. Hope it all works out!
Thank you to all who have replied! I took the advice on calling PearsonVue and was able to find an alternative ID. I can use my passport even though my first name isn't hyphenated. There is a space in between my first name though, and PearsonVue said that it is acceptable. Thanks so much for your advices!

It's great that you had it worked out!
I have a similar problem, but not entirely. I have a really long first name and upon registration with Pearson, it only allowed me 15 characters on the first name box. For example my name is "MARIA ELLIZABETH", it only appears on my account (and now on my ATT as well) as "MARIA ELLIZABET".
Do you guys think they will still let me take the NCLEX exam? Thank you!

Hi knight! We have the same problem. My name has more than 15characters. Did you take the exam? How did you do it? Thanks
I remember I called and they said it was okay!
The day of the exam, it was not a bother at all. Good luck on your test!
