Finished BSN years back and took NCLEX today

Published

I completed my BSN program a few years back and finally decided it was time to test. Earlier this year I decided to hit the books using Hurst, Kaplan Qbank, and LaCharity PDA. To be very honest, most of the material felt new to me. Hurst was excellent. I watched the videos a few times and studied the material over and over again. Then I moved on to Kaplans Qbank but I did not complete more than 90% of it. I averaged 58% but towards the end I was scoring higher on tests. I'm a full time business owner and father of four so all of this took place approximately 1-2 hours per day with the exception of the last two weeks.

Today I went in to the test confident but very nervous and anxious. After approximately 30-40 questions I felt as if I knew a lot of the material. By the time I reached 70 I just prayed I wouldn't have to stay for all 265. I took a break (2 hour mark) at 74, sat back down and answered one question before it shut off. I had a lot of SATA questions but I felt Kaplan was much harder.

A half hour later I was sitting in my truck, very nervous, and very anxious to try the PVT. Pearson Vue showed "Delivery Successful". After trying to register I received the pop up "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." I hope it is still reliably a 99.9% chance that I passed! :)

Awwwww I pray you did ! Congrats ahead of time , I know you will pass

Wowwww congrats in advance!

Good for you!! And congrats!!

Congrats! I took mine yesterday & am anxious for the 48 hours to be up so I can get quick results. The PVT trick says I passed though :)

wow, after a few years that's pretty impressive! Congrats! I am taking mine in 2.5wks and I'm nervous. What were your scores on the Qbanks as you got closer? I am averaging high 60's (68/69) to lower 70's right now.

High 60's at best. I thought Kaplan was harder than NCLEX. I really focused on memorizing labs, understanding EKGs, understanding the core content of Hurst, and didn't really do any more than Hurst for Pharm. Oh and I definitely ran through the study guide thats floating around here. The My Chicken Hez TB, Spiderman, and Mrs. Wee REALLY helped!

ok, thanks. One last question,, did you find the material on kaplan was similar to nclex material because it seems like a lot of questions are about the same topics with kaplan.

I'm not sure but I can say that I felt very prepared for most of the questions by using Hurst and Kaplan's qbank.
