I got a job on an ICU stepdown unit! It's exactly what I wanted for my first year, and I couldn't be happier. $24/hour plus night shift diff, full-time, benefits. I'm SO excited to be finally starting my career! :redpinkhe:redpinkhe

Congratulations! To get a job is great, but to be exactly where you want in this economy - awesome!!! Can you post how you went about your job search and landed this?
Unfortunately, I went about it in a "sneaky" way that won't necessarily help other job seekers . This facility paid my tuition in exchange for 4 years of work. They never guaranteed positions, though, and last year they released several students from their contracts post-graduation because they couldn't place them. I also could have been placed anywhere they had an opening, so I was lucky to get my first choice! I think I interviewed well and I was enthusiastic about working for this hospital, not just to pay back a debt, but to do my best for them.

Congrats! Isn't it a great feeling? I too just graduated and got exactly what I wanted...L&D, it's like a dream to get to start out where I wanted to. I am so happy for you! Best wishes and I hope it turns out to be everything you wanted in nursing!!
Congratulations on L&D! 2 of my classmates really wanted to be baby nurses, but the recruiters were pretty "doom and gloom" about new grad placements in baby areas. One of them got newborn nursery, and the other got NICU I'm so happy for them (and for you!).
