And an extra question, is it possible to be pregnant while going to nursing school?

Three of my classmates were pregnant while attending nursing school. Two of the women were young, in their 20s, healthy, and had spouses, so they gave birth with no complications and returned to school without missing any time. The third woman was middle-aged and smoked heavily, and gave birth to an underweight baby girl. She did not return to school after having the baby.

So it is possible to be pregnant in nursing school, but I would not recommend it.

Sure!

How long have you been a nurse? 1.5 years

What age did you become one? 22

Are you married? Nope

Do you have children? Nope

And an extra question, is it possible to be pregnant while going to nursing school?

Definitely. It certainly won't make things easier, but I've seen it work out for some of my classmates.

How long have you been a nurse? What age did you become one? 11 years; I was 23

Are you married? 13 years next month

Do you have children? Five; my oldest is almost 12, my youngest is 6 months

And an extra question, is it possible to be pregnant while going to nursing school? Do the math. ;) My oldest was born the first day of spring break, and I took an extra week off. The week I came back I had patho exams on respiratory and renal--I had missed one the week I was off, and we had another the following week. It was TOUGH! I read my notes to her instead of "Goodnight Moon." :bookworm: The instructors were able to schedule my first clinical rotation before she was born, and other one when she was about a month old. I worked PT as a CNA and went back 2 months postpartum. I breastfed.

I am in the middle of an RN-BSN completion right now and have a baby. I would have just taken a couple of weeks off like I did w/ my ADN program, but I needed a varicella vaccine to do the practicum that started while I was pregnant. I had chicken pox as a child but wasn't immune, and I couldn't have the vaccine while pregnant. I took advantage of the time to finish up my generals, which I was able to do online. My husband's parents help us a ton during the week, and my husband is Mr. Mom every other weekend while I work. He's a CFO so works mostly regular office hours. He does travel a lot and schedules trips during my days off. I'm breastfeeding this baby too. It helps that this program I'm in is more geared towards working adults. My ADN program was really tough. It was very doable with one baby though.

It's definitely a juggling act, but so worth it!

Ive been a nurse for over 5 years. I became one when I was 28. I am married and have multiple kids.

I was pregnant in school. Had my first during my prereqs and returned to summer session with a 2 week old in tow to a computer class, sat in the back and formatted while baby slept. The next one happened during nursing school and I graduated and passed nclex while pregnant. Chewed zofran like skittles throughout the last semester of school to prevent puking daily but I passed. It's doable!

Oh, I should add that I did quit my CNA job the final semester of nursing school. I only worked 2-3 days a week, but it was just too much with Advanced Nursing lecture/clinicals and my final internship.

Thanks for the replies!

I think I can do it, but it scares me too. I don't want to flunk out of nursing school for being sick or something. Now, I have never been the best test taker to begin with, is that an automatic fail for nursing school?

Specializes in SICU, trauma, neuro.

Not automatic fail, but you might just have to work harder. My nursing class exams (as opposed to A&P, micro etc.) were mostly multiple choice questions where you had to choose the MOST correct answer. It wasn't always clear-cut. But that's what the NCLEX is like, and taught me how to think for the exam.

How long have you been a nurse? What age did you become one? 6 months(grad May 2013)

Are you married?yes, 10 yrs

Do you have children? Yes, 4(age 10.5, 9, 7, 4).

And an extra question, is it possible to be pregnant while going to nursing school? Yes it is possible, but I would not recommend it. There was a girl who moved from her graduating class in the last quarter into our class(one class behind them) b/c she developed preeclampsia and had to deliver at 30ish weeks. You never know what is going to happen. That said, she graduated with my class and is doing well as an RN as far as I know.

How long have you been a nurse? What age did you become one? I'm graduating in May. I'll be 34.

Are you married? Yes

Do you have children? Yes, a son in kindergarten.

And an extra question, is it possible to be pregnant while going to nursing school? Physically? Yes. Ideally, NO NO NO. We have put off having more kids until I have a steady job. I CANNOT imagine adding the stress of pregnancy, birth, and a newborn on top of nursing school and my existing life stress. Oh no no no.
